Overview:

Responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the Claims Department, as well as assist employees, carriers and customers through the claims process.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service and assist customers with their service needs both in person and remotely via phone/email, accurately process requests from customers, team members, and carriers including but not limited to: Adjuster requests, status requests, new claims from customers
  • Manage the claims process from start to finish including monitoring for new claims, ensuring acknowledgements are received in a timely manner, confirming claim number and point of contact are documented, closing claims and sending survey letters
  • Enter all acknowledgments, payments and closing notices accurately into the system.
  • Follow claims procedures with precision and ensure all claims are tasked for follow up accordingly
  • Properly process claim surveys
  • Escalate severe claims, large claim payouts (for both Commercial and Personal Liens) and large reserve claims to appropriate Team
  • Alert Account Executive and Account Manager when a Reservation of Rights, Summons & Complaint or Denial are received by carrier or attorney
  • Serve as a backup to answer claim processing questions if Claims Team Lead or Claims Manager are not available
  • Perform a variety of processes including but not limited to scanned claim documents, school incident reports, download reports from carriers, new claims when claim acknowledgements are received direct from the company
  • Participate in the Proactive Call Procedure
  • Assist with the administration of the weekly Claims report
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
  • Specialized insurance training or a minimum of one (1) year relevant work experience preferred.
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills, analytical, visual and auditory skills to effectively translate information into on-line data management systems.
  • Licensed Property & Casualty Insurance Broker in the state of New York, and Non-Resident Producer Individual License in the state of Pennsylvania, or the willingness to obtain these licenses within one year of assignment.
  • New York State Notary License, or willingness to obtain within one year of assignment.
  • Proven customer service and claim processing knowledge.
  • Skilled in business writing, attention to detail and organization.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; aptitude to learn and use new technologies.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and independent to self-direct the completion of assignments and duties.
