This position is designated as Exempt from the Human Resources Act (EHRA).This position serves as a collaborative business partner with campus clients and implements best practices that are compliant and attentive to business needs and market competitiveness. The Consultant partners at various levels across the university, as well as, the UNC Systems Office, Office of State Human Resources, and other agencies and universities. This position provides comprehensive guidance regarding regulation, policy, processes, and initiatives to ensure alignment with UNCW compensation programs and State/ Federal guidelines. The position works in a customer-centric, fast-paced environment that requires work to be performed with a sense of urgency in completing day-to-day compensation activities while focusing on high performance, collaboration, and innovative solutions. The consultant serves as an internal change agent and is adept at collaborating with various constituents to ensure new processes, procedures, structures, training, etc., are implemented in ways that deliver the expected value that the organizational change was to produce.Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):* Consultation: Extends stellar customer service through collaboration with campus HR Business Officers/ liaisons to ensure the compensation program supports and is aligned with both short and long-term organizational objectives. Advises campus partners and HR partners on compensation matters (ie. Talent Acquisition on recruitment ranges).* Position Management: Performs job analysis, classification, and position creation, determines pay range recommendations, org analysis, design recommendations, and exemption status (FLSA and SHRA/EHRA).* Compensation Analysis & Ad-Hoc Reporting: Performs market and equity analysis of positions to assess salaries and proactively addresses compensation issues. Analyzes results from salary surveys to assess market competitiveness and range updates where applicable. Predicts future trends to assist in steering HR in a positive direction for the university.* Cyclical Activity: Salary Survey Participation, Annual Raise Process (ARP), UNC Systems Office Reporting, Annual review of salary structures/ ranges, etc.* Projects: Serves as a collaborator and contributor to change process initiatives and participates in compensation and cross-functional projects that further the HR mission and support campus initiatives. Assists with strategic compensation initiatives and implementation of related programs.* Training: Develops and facilitates ongoing campus/ HR partners training on compensation policies and practices, as well as, necessary compliance to reduce risk.* Systems/Applications: Regularly performs data queries and input in HRIS and software applications that manage positions and compensation-related information. Understand the interface protocol across systems and the impact of data entry and system changes.Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsMinimum Education and Experience Requirements:* Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating and promoting HR best practices in the context of organizational goals and objectives; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & ExperiencePreferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience:* B.S. in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Analytics, or other closely related field.* 2+ years of related Classification and Compensation experience (position classifications, position studies, organizational design, job design, client-facing consultation, statistical analyses, survey participation and analysis, reporting, annual increase process, project team, etc.).* Classification and compensation experience at an institution of public higher education.* Experience and training within the UNC System and/or NC Office of State Human Resources Classification on Salary Administration policies and procedures.* Compensation data analytics experience.* Presentation and training experience.* Project management experience to lead the implementation of small to moderate scope projects.* Data analytics experience.* Certifications in Compensation and/or Human Resources - CCA, CCP, SCP/S-SCP, PHR/SPHR/SHRM.Required Certifications or LicensuresN/APrimary Purpose of Organizational UnitThe UNCW Office of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity within the Chancellor's Division is the central office responsible for HR operations and Title IX and Clery compliance.
