Job Summary:Under the general direction of the ASD Director, Education Director, and Classroom Instructor, the Classroom Aide will directly supervise students at all times, enforce rules outlined in the student handbook, assist in the grading of student's work, and compile point sheets and grade levels for assigned classes.Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Aide in planning, preparation, and presentation of the academic curriculum and the elective curriculum as directed by school administration.
  • Aide the classroom instructor in classroom preparation.
  • Aide the classroom instructor in taking attendance and filing, as needed.
  • Enforce all school rules outlined in the student handbook and deal effectively with behavioral problems presented by students.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment for students by ensuring the class is clean and safe for students.
  • Perform duties as directed by school administration in the absence of the classroom instructor.
  • Perform pre/post-testing of students, monitor assigned students in the resource room, and perform floating supervision in the building as directed.
  • Produce and maintain records, reports, and other written materials are required for each student.
  • Provide direct supervision of students at all times.
Minimum Job Requirements:Educational Requirements:Possess a High School Diploma or GED AND have two years of experience in a school or similar setting. Experience in a special education setting is preferred.ORPossess a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Special Education, Social Services, or a related Human Service Field. Experience in a special education setting is preferred.Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work in a team and complete assigned tasks.
  • Analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to carry out appropriate restraints to prevent clients from harming themselves or others.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at times with or without assistance.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and moving.
Required Clearances and Documentation:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable transportation.
  • Act 31/Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training.
  • Act 34 Pennsylvania State Police Background Check - Criminal History.
  • Act 114 Department of Human Services FBI Fingerprints.
  • Act 33 Pennsylvania Child Abuse History.
