ABOUT US:GEO Next Generation K-12 Academy is a free K-12+ public charter school. We are building a team of excellence. We are one of the few Indiana schools offering an early college program, which allows our qualifying high school students to take real college courses for real college credit, free of charge to our students and their families. Our curriculum and our teaching methods are designed using Core Knowledge, small group instruction, blended learning in K-8, and in high school students can take college courses on our campus or on a collegiate campus.Role and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Classroom Teacher/Principal, Assistant is responsible for classroom assistance through curriculum implementation, lesson planning, student assessment, data disaggregation, and behavioral management. Additional responsibilities include maintaining compliance with individual student Education Plans, Section 504 Plans, etc, and participation in the school duty schedule requirements. They will strive for proficiency in operational and functional knowledge of best practices in education, state and federal education law, FERPA and FAPE law, parent relations, behavioral management, documenting and reporting, and process-driven accountability.Reports to:Lead Teacher and Administrative Team Full Time 10-month position Essential Position Functions:A Classroom Assistant is required to perform the following duties:
  • Work collaboratively and harmoniously with Lead Classroom Teacher.
  • Accept and incorporate feedback and coaching from Lead Teacher and Administrative Team.
  • Support established classroom rules and protocol.
  • Fill in as Teacher when Lead Teacher is absent when asked.
  • Motivate and support students in reaching high levels of academic success.
  • Create a positive student culture around online learning and small group tutoring.
  • Maintain high behavioral expectations for all students.
  • Interpret, manage, and utilize multiple sets of data to best support student progress.
  • Perform targeted individual assistance and small group tutoring.
  • Assist with the creation of individual learning plans for each student enrolled.
  • Maintain frequent communication with students and their support network regarding academic progress.
  • Communicate and collaborate with teachers and school administrators.
  • Participate in staff development opportunities.
RequirementsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates degree OR 60 credit hours OR passing ParaPro scores. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and production.
  • Excellence in organizational management, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, and set and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to planning.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, grit, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
  • Annual training and/or professional development is required for all PSOE employees. Job-specific training is identified and scheduled by the school.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3 years' experience working with children in an urban setting.
  • At least 9 hours concentrated in Math, ELA or Reading
  • Experience or familiarity in one of the following areas:
  • o Blended Learning
  • o Online learning / coursework
