MDA Principal Systems Engineer-BMD SME

DESCRIPTION This role will facilitate the modeling, simulation, and analyses of future concepts that shape the future of the Missile Defense System (MDS) and respond to Warfighter needs. DUTIES • Facilitate the definition of future concepts for modeling, simulation, and analysis • Act as a subject matter expert in future concept definition, architecture analyses, and reviewing preliminary results prior to delivery to customer • Assess MDS threats, capability gaps, challenges, needs and opportunities, and develop potential system mitigations and capability revolutions and evolutions at the architecture level • Support modeling & simulation (M&S) efforts related to the above, including analysis efforts on DoD High Performance Computing (HPC) • Develop analysis plans, run M&S to execute the analysis plan, perform analysis on the results, prepare analysis reports, and provide reviews of analysis products
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Master's Degree in STEM Field with 12+ years of experience in missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program/project • Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI • Extensive experience in the modeling, assessment, and evaluation of future missile defense architectures • Deep understanding of the current MDS architecture and future concepts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Active TS/SCI Clearance • Experience with the definition and use of advanced concepts and algorithms for the M&S of MDS architectures • Experience with M&S and analysis of MDS architectures involving both directed and kinetic energy weapons and other future concepts • Ability to develop and use MDS architecture simulations; knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python is a plus, including HPC experience and/or MBSE experience • Experience supporting systems engineering-related architecture design activities • Ability to perform technology assessment & analysis and provide insight on the utility of potentially useful technologies • Experience with multidisciplinary analysis and optimization environments, including analysis of diverse physical phenomena • Specialized MDS analysis experience in: threat characterization, trajectories, RF sensing/signatures, and/or Proven ability to coauthor numerous reports and provide significant contributions to MDS studies and responses to Congress • Experience with Cyber gaps, mitigations, and future Cyber Architecture development • Experience serving as a key advisor and collaborating on products that may go outside the Agency, such as DoD, Services, Combatant Commands, industry experts, etc.
