The New York City Employees' Retirement System (NYCERS) was founded by the New York State Legislature in 1920 with 13,331 members. Today, NYCERS has grown into the largest municipal public employee retirement system in the United States with more than 423,000 active members and retirees includingcivilian employees such as clerical workers, accountants and social workers, and uniformed employees such as New York City Correction Officers and Sanitation Workers.
The Retirement & Pension Benefits Division seeks to hire (1) Clerical Associate, Level 4. The selected candidate will be responsible for but is not limited to:
* Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as preparing listings, and revision packages.
* Review and maintain cases including taking ownership, updating work status, updating case notes, transferring cases, pending and closing cases in the NYCEPAS system.
* Review applications, forms and/or any related materials for completeness and accuracy.
* Enter, obtain, and/or update members beneficiaries or pensioner data and information into the appropriate Prod system.
* Prepare listings for and process cases that require revisions by the Office of Actuary and various departments within the agency.
* Follow up on the return of the cases within the Unit's established goals. This may include but not limited to data entry, file transfers, and simple calculation.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Preferred Skills
* Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills - Flexible and capable of performing multiple tasks - Capable of meeting deadlines while working in a high volume and fast paced environment - Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
