Description
This is a non-exempt, part-time position with the Carson City Clerk/Recorder's Office, not to exceed 1039 work hours in any fiscal year. Employees in this position will perform a variety of clerical duties for the Recorders Office in the Carson City Clerk/Recorder's Office. Employees will perform a variety of duties related to the maintenance and administration of services related to the needs of Carson City.

* Respond to requests for information related to specific unit of assignment.
* Enter and retrieve information from an automated data system.
* Maintain and update filing and/or records systems, and other specialized record keeping information.
* Review all work for accuracy and completeness, and maintain confidentiality of all information.
* Photocopy, collate, and distribute documents.
* Operate a variety of office equipment, i.e. computer, fax, copier, and etc.
* Assist customers at the front counter with a variety of requests.
* Performs specialized office support work in accordance with State regulations and office policies and procedures.
* Scan and index numerous documents.
* Posting information on the website.
* Examines various legal documents for sufficiency, completeness and adherence to laws, codes and recording requirements.
* Enters information into an automated system for permanent indexing.
* Explains recording requirements to the public, including providing information regarding transfer taxes, fees and required supplemental documents.

Education and Experience:High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education; AND two years of clerical experience.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Under General Supervision- Incumbents at this level are given assignments and objectives that are governed by specifically outlined work methods and a sequence of steps, which are explained in general terms. The responsibility for achieving the work objectives, however, rests with a superior. Immediate supervision is not consistent, but checks are integrated into work processes and/or reviews are frequent enough to ensure compliance with instructions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
* This is an at-will position. If hired into the position, the employment is at-will meaning the employee can be terminated at any time for any reason or no reason.
* Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
* Any City employee may be required to stay at or return to work during emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
* Employees may be required to complete Incident Command System training as a condition of continuing employment.
* New employees are required to submit to a fingerprint based background investigation which cost the new employee $48.25 and a drug screen which costs $36.50. Employment is contingent upon passing the background and the drug screen.
