To support this important work, the administration has committed $5 billion in new capital funding, bringing the 10-year planned investment in housing to $22 billion the largest in the city's history. This investment, coupled with a commitment to reduce administrative and regulatory barriers, is a multi-pronged strategy to tackle New York City's complex housing crisis, by addressing homelessness and housing instability, promoting economic stability and mobility, increasing homeownership opportunities, improving health and safety, and increasing opportunities for equitable growth.

Your Team:

The Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services (OENS) leads the agency's effort to work closely with other HPD divisions and outside community partners to identify buildings in distress, assess and develop appropriate strategies to address those properties and work closely with responsible owners to develop a plan to improve conditions and return buildings to firm financial footing and physical health. OENS uses enforcement tools within its Division of Code Enforcement, Housing Litigation Division, Emergency Operations and Enhanced Enforcement, and the Division of Neighborhood Preservation to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.

The Office of Enforcement and Neighborhood Services is composed of six divisions: Data Management & Technology (DMT), Division of Neighborhood Preservation (DNP), Administration & Internal Compliance (AIC), Housing Litigation Division (HLD), Division of Code Enforcement (DCE), and Emergency Operations and Enhanced Enforcement Division (EOD).

Your Impact:

Under the direct supervision, the selected candidate will be responsible for assisting with various administrative activities related to the necessary repairs for the improvement of poor housing conditions through the Emergency Repair Program.

Your Role:

Your role will be a Clerical Support/Community Associate in the Emergency Operations Division. You will be responsible for but not limited to the following.

Your Responsibilities:

- Ensure timely notification to Owners of immediately hazardous violation's and impending emergency repairs

- Answering phones and responding to inquires from tenants and landlords

- Data entry of all Call Results into HPDINFO, also include contact information and any additional information obtained during the phone calls

- Ensure all calls are timely made before the Violation Correction and Certification Dates

- Expedite special request for Violations from the Emergency Repair Unit, Division of Maintenance and other units within the NYC HPD

- Attach and scan relevant documents into HPDINFO

- Callback Owner Notification on C class Violations & Lead

- Callback Tenant Notification on C class Violations

- Ensure all Lead violations in the HPDINFO mailbox function OWNOTFM1 is processed daily

- Research additional Owner Contact information using EXTERNAL & PROPVIEW & DOB

- Data enter all Violation referrals from the Protective Adult Services (PSA) and forward to the Emergency Repair Unit

- Retrieval of voice mails from 5510 Customer Service Line daily -and returning calls of tenant/landlords responding to the ESB Letter generated

Candidates may be assigned to any office within the 5 boroughs and may be assigned to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or

2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 above.
