Clerk II Performs documentation. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Work involves compiling and tabulating data and operating and use of computer programs such as Microsoft, Excel, and Computerization. Work is performed according to established procedures. New assignments and changes in procedures are explained in detail. Most work procedures are established by a supervisor who periodically reviews work in progress and upon completion, reviews for conformance to procedures. Moderately complex data entry work. Work involves entering data; and maintaining files. May serve as a back to Adm. Asst. I.

Essential Job Functions:

Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

Maintain a system for records, files, and logs for the section. Compiles, organizes, and tabulates data and performs calculations. Performs data entry, retrieval, and data searches. Answers telephones, refers callers to appropriate staff, and/or takes messages. Employee should be able to meet essential deadlines in order to keep the Food Service operating in an efficient manner.

Participates in physically taking the end-of-the-month inventory.

Maintains certification to drive state vehicles.

Responsible for departmental purchase orders and requisitions. Monitors amounts being processed so that invoices can be paid promptly.

Responsible and accountable for state-issued credit card purchases on assigned card and complies with all procurement card policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

Knowledge of office practices and administrative abilities, computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Ability to interact with internal and external contacts in a professional manner. Ability to maintain records, files, and reports. Skilled in standard office equipment and software. Skilled in oral and written communication. Ability to maintain confidentiality of work related information. Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks. Registration or Licensure Requirements:

Food Handlers Certification (will receive training on this)

Position is required to drive and require a valid Driver's License and eligible driving record based on HHSC Fleet Management policy. Applicants with an out-of-state driver's license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure or obtain a valid Texas Driver's License. Initial Selection Criteria:

High school diploma or GED Equivalent. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. Clerical work experience preferred. Experience with computers and software, such as MS Word, MS Excel,and Computrition preferred. Answers the telephone, refer callers to appropriate staff, take messages, and answer basic questions. Computrition knowledge preferred, but will train (applicant must be able to grasp knowledge within 6 months) Additional Information:

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities.

Males between the ages of 18 - 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

All State Supported Living Center employees are subject to Random drug testing.

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
