Overview

Clinic Abstractor- Nurse Audit

UnityPoint Clinic

Monday- Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM

Full-Time Benefits

Provides verification and support of quality and performance management activities through abstracting clinical data from patient's records. The abstracted information will help meet payor contract requirements that impact financial performance, as well as validate compliance with standards within UnityPoint Clinics.

Responsibilities

Clinical Data Abstraction

* Abstracts clinical data in an accurate and timely manner from patient medical records

* Demonstrates critical thinking skills when abstracting and reviewing patient medical records

* Ability to navigate through UnityPoint Clinic electronic medical record (EMR), payor-designated software platforms, and appropriate internal electronic platforms.

* Stay current on systems through training and webinars

* Abstracts and records clinical data from patient medical record in accordance with specific audit criteria

* Responsible for immediate feedback to Managed Care Supervisor and Executive Director of Payor Strategies or other designated individual or reporting body

Department and Customer Support

* Ability to answer questions/concerns voiced by Clinical Leadership, staff, and/or Provider.

* Maintains accuracy of medical record data and report results to Managed Care Supervisor, Director of Payor Strategies, or designated reporting body

* Willingness to participate in staff meetings/provider meetings to explain audit findings, if appropriate

* Assists and performs improvement initiatives relative to performance improvement plan/UnityPointClinic quarterly audit schedule including accreditation requirements

* Communicates with Clinical Quality Assurance Committee, Quality Team, Payor Strategies Team,and other organizational bodies as needed.

* Provides timely feedback on problematic trends and suggestions for improvement

* Develops action plans when appropriate

* Provides education regarding documentation trends and strategies to improve compliance 5%

* Supports other audit projects as needed

Qualifications

Education Preferred

* Bachelor's Degree in the field(s) of nursing

Experience

* 3-5 years of experience in/with ambulatory or medical office setting required

* Managed care experience preferred

License

* Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons

* Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa/Illinois for Registered Nurse

* Area of Interest: Nursing;
