Responsible for pleasant and effective communication with the public as well as assisting with timely and efficient scheduling of patient appointments. Accurate and efficient data/demographic information entry into software programs utilized by office and hospital. Responsible for collecting co-pays and other patient payments made in office. Responsible for ensuring and assisting with efficient patient flow throughout the clinic day.Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs administrative duties, which include, but is not limited to: Collecting co-payments and other professional fees; scheduling patients' appointments, phone calls to confirm existing appointments; sending insurance claims; making written patient financial arrangements, attempting to obtain payment and record of such actions, opening/closing the clinic.
- Answers phone - scheduling appointments, admitting patients into practice management software for appointment with provider, verifying current billing and demographic information at each visit. Responsible for taking detailed and accurate messages. Referral of incoming telephone calls to the appropriate administrative or clinical staff member for processing
- Assists in scanning duties: Scanning documents into charts as needed and continuously. Requests medical records for new clients as needed. Readies electronic charts for appointments as needed.
- Keeps the waiting room clean. Straightens as necessary throughout the clinic day.
- Assists in keeping clinical office inventory and notifies Practice Manager when supplies need to be ordered.
- Accurately handles cash, credit, or check transactions with patients; issues receipts and change due to patients; processes payments and establishes payments with usage of calculators and cash registers.
- Actively engage in quality improvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the physician, midlevel provider, Administrative Office Supervisor and/or Practice Manager.
- Ensures patient confidentiality.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
RequirementsMinimum Requirements
- Must possess high school diploma or GED
- Clearance of all background checks
Preferred Requirements
- 1+ years of customer service and/or healthcare experience
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
