Assists in patient care throughout surgical specialty practices including but not limited to: Scheduling inpatient and outpatient procedures with the OR, Patient Registration, etc., Responsible for any/all insurance verifications, coverage updates and precertification when necessary. Coordinates preadmission testing, medical clearance, EKG studies, etc Communicates regularly with patients regarding status of procedure and instructions for day of procedure. Discusses any medical preps related to procedure. Ensures that all necessary information is in admission, OR, etc. before day of procedure. Schedules post-op visit. Assists with office hours as necessary. Performs other duties as assigned by practice providers and/or practice management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma required.

2. Certification as a Medical Assistant or a Registered Medical Assistant

3. 3 years in general or healthcare office, preferred.

4. Strong knowledge of managed care payers.

5. Strong organizational skills.

6. Strong experience in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint, preferred.

7. Must exhibit a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

8. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical staff services department and/or acute care hospital experience, preferred.

9. BLS certification 10. Needs to be an experienced caregiver and have practical office training.
