Position: Clinical Applications Coordinator Department:Information TechnologyReports To:IT Director, Health ServicesLocation: Open with TravelExempt/Non-Exempt:Exempt Pay Grade:Grade 12 ($61,942.00 - $90,286.50)Classification:Fulltime Summary:The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is a federally recognized Tribe with its ancestral homeland located in Niobrara, NE. The Tribe does not have a reservation in the classic definition; rather, the Ponca Restoration Act defined its jurisdiction as a 'Service Delivery Area' comprised of 15 counties throughout parts of Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Within its Service Delivery Area, the Tribe offers a broad range of health, social, educational, and cultural services. The Clinical Applications Coordinator (CAC) is responsible for providing support on the daily operability between clinicians/Dental/Pharmacy and Behavioral Health staff and the electronic health records (EHR). The CAC will serve as a specialist/integrator in the implementation and ongoing support of multi-service clinical software applications used for the clinic EHR. The CAC will support the organization's mission and goals, quality standards, and patient-centered medical home philosophy and embrace Ponca Health Services (PHS) culture of serving the whole person through our provision of services. This position will be responsible as the coordinator for deploying new portions of the electronic health record in specified clinical locations, collaborating with the Information Technology Director and clinical departments in customizing software and altering workflow processes in the daily operation of the electronic health records. The CAC also works with external coordinators with responsibility for a broad range of activities surrounding the implementation of a comprehensive, standardized integrated health care information system. Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Maintains an awareness and comprehensive understanding of all clinical software; and interfaces utilized by PHS which may include, but is not limited to, electronic health information (Aprima, Dentrix, SpriptPro, RPMS, CyncHealth, PDMP, etc. and telemedicine platforms).
  • Administration of Ponca Health Services Electronic Health Record and integrated systems (i.e. Aprima, Surescripts/ScriptPro and Dentrix). Addresses integration issues; periodically reviews and updates local site settings.
  • Generates and customizes reports for Ponca Health Services.
  • Logs all problems with the Ponca Health IT help desk and external vendors as applicable referring those requiring a higher level of technical support to the appropriate person or team.
  • Coordinate with appropriate parties on all audits of the EHR.
  • Analyzes and evaluates processes related to information flow and works with local staff to make needed changes/improvements.
  • Troubleshoot clinic applications programs to support the electronic health record system.
  • Coordinate, implement, and convert the PHS hard copy medical record to an automated EHR.
  • Organizes standardized reports and the creation of custom templates for ad hoc reporting utilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Relationships and Authority:This position has no supervisory duties and reports through Health IT Director Working Environment and Physical Demands:This position is in a professional office environment.Qualifications:Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or informatics, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Two years of experience in patient care such as clinical, nursing, pharmacy, or allied health).
  • Possess working knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) software
  • Two years of experience in information technology, including familiarity with database queries and report writing.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with and manage highly confidential material.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others, programs, and various organizations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and be insurable.
  • Successfully pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  • Able and willing to travel
  • Preferred:
  • Two years of experience in medical informatics.
  • Experience in tribal health care systems operations.
  • One year of experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638, Indian Self-Determination Act.
  • Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe.
