Better Care.Job Summary:The Clinical Assistant (CA) is a paraprofessional who acts as a personal assistant to a Provider during clinic and collects information from both the patient and provider in real-time during their visits. The dictation or documentation may include patient histories, diagnoses, medical treatments, analysis of test results, medications, prognosis, discharge planning, input of new prescriptions and needed diagnostic testing, and other in-office visit documentation as needed.Responsibilities and Duties:Working alongside provider to take notes, via computer during patient visits, and documenting them in the electronic health records system in real-time.Documents directly from voice recordings and prepares reports using correct medical terminology, spelling, and punctuation.Documents patients' medical histories, taking notes of medical examination findings, and updating EMR patient records.Uses a team approach in patient careWorking with a Provider to complete and submit medical recordsCommunicating with patients and Providers professionallyAssist with entering electronically prescribe medication for patients and entering diagnostic testing discussed during appointment.Verifies patient information for accuracy.Edits for clarity without altering the meaning meant by the Provider or patient.Maintains a reliable backup system to ensure that vital information will be preserved in case of a system malfunction.All other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills:Ability to expertly document patient care during patient appointments.Advanced computer and keyboarding skills, including competency with technology used for job performance.Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical procedures, medications, and laboratory test information.Maintain HIPAA, as required by law.Strong organization, multitasking and time management skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsGood bedside manner and interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentDetailed oriented and excellent organizational skills, while being able to remain friendly and professional with patients when stressed.
