Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

In collaboration with the Dean of Nursing, Assistant Deans, and Program Directors, the Clinical Coordinator of Nursing is a staff position responsible for securing and scheduling all nursing clinical assignments for nursing students with appropriately credentialed preceptors at approved clinical sites. In addition, the Nursing Clinical Coordinator collaborates with colleagues on-campus and off-campus to manage the evaluation of clinical facilities and preceptors/clinical adjunct faculty members, maintaining accurate student health and other requirements records in coordination with the clinical compliance coordinator, and building strong relationships with clinical agencies.

Essential Job Functions

Schedules students and instructors/preceptors for clinical and practicum experiences in collaboration with the Program Directors, faculty, clinical educators etc.

Identifies and secures clinical education sites for the nursing programs in collaboration with clinical educators and other appropriate personnel. Builds and maintains strong relationships with clinical agencies through site visits and ongoing communication.

Assists the Program Directors and faculty to ensure all students have the necessary clinical requirements (including health requirements and background checks) documented before attending the clinical experience in collaboration with the clinical compliance coordinator. Collaborates with the course faculty to ensure all required clinical documentation for students is maintained on file and is accurate, current, and complete.

Facilitates and manages clinical agency site visits, evaluations, and preceptor/clinical adjunct evaluation process to document outcomes. Facilitates the resolution of clinical faculty, student, and clinical site issues.

Assists Program Directors and faculty with orientation of new clinical faculty to the clinical facility in collaboration with clinical educators. Collaborates with the Manger of Operations during orientation to instruct adjuncts on the Nursing Handbook, and College policies and procedures relevant to nursing clinical education and clinical compliance.

Employment Qualifications

Education Qualifications - List the minimum education, training, and experience required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Required Minimum Education:

4 year/ Bachelors Degree

Specialty/Major:

Nursing

Preferred Education:

Graduate Degree (Masters)

Licensure/Certification Required:

Current unencumbered Ohio Registered Nurse license.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Years and Type of Experience:

At least two years of experience in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Knowledge of supervision, instruction, and evaluation.; skillful in interpersonal, verbal communication; competent in appropriate use of computer technology and software, including MS Excel, MS WORD, PowerPoint, electronic email and the internet; and knowledge of the Ohio Board of Nursing regulations and accreditation standards.
