Job Category:Nursing - Registered NurseWork Shift/Schedule:8 Hr Morning - AfternoonNortheast Georgia Health System is rooted in a foundation of improving the health of our communities.About the Role:Job SummaryThe Pre-Surgical Testing (PST) Clinical Coordinator functions as the clinical expert for the Pre-surgical Testing service lines. He/She is responsible for the coordination of patient care and the efficiency of unit operations for the assigned shift. The PST Clinical Coordinator collaborates with other professional disciplines and the physician to deliver holistic quality care to patients and families. Facilitates patient's movement through the health care system in a timely manner. Acts as a liaison between physicians, vendors and multidisciplinary teams. Actively collaborates/engages with leadership to promote strategic development. Directly supervises unit staff. Supports and assists the unit manager with staff development and discipline, as well as assisting in various projects. The PST Clinical Coordinator will also work closely with the Perioperative Nurse Educators to collaborate and provide required and needed education in the the PST department. Demonstrates timely communication of pertinent information to improve patient care and throughput. Actively participates on unit councils, helping with plans to improve nursing sensitive indicators and patient experience data. Promotes a positive work and accountability culture that reflects professional nursing practice. The scope of care includes young adult to geriatric patients. This position will care for patients in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Employee performs clinical duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policy and procedures.Minimum Job Qualifications* Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as a RN in Georgia. Professional certification in clinical specialty within two years of hire.* Educational Requirements: Associates Degree* Minimum Experience: 2 years experience in Pre-Surgical Testing.* Other:Preferred Job Qualifications* Preferred Licensure or other certifications: CAPA and/or CPAN clinical specialty* Preferred Educational Requirements: A degree in Nursing (either BSN or MSN). Actively seeks out ways to mentor staff* Assists the Nurse Manager with time and attendance for all PST staff* Assists with the monitoring of attendance and administers discipline including coaching, counseling, and verbal action.* Assist with the monitoring of productivity, Decrease and or increase staffing matrix related to visit load.Ensures equipment, supplies & resources are available for optimal patient care.* Actively communicates with PST charge nurse to ensure cases are scheduled appropriately and adjusts as necessary* Functions in charge nurse role as neededPromotes fiscal responsibility.* Identifies future capital equipment needs or replacement when needed.* Identifies cost savings initiatives.* Identifies equipment needs and monitors repairs. Implements process changes to decrease cost of repairs and to educate the staff of proper handling of equipment.* Collaborates with PST Nurse Manager, physicians and staff to identify the budget needs required to support clinical demands.Develop relationships.* Participates in Perioperative Services committees and communicates challenges and initiates improvements.* Liaison between physicians, anesthesiology, staff members, ancillary departments and leadership.* Actively participates on corporate committees and task force as assigned* Works collaboratively with peers across the health systemDevelopment of competency of personnel within service line.* Works closely with the Perioperative Nurse Educators to provide required and needed education to all PST staff* Assist Nurse Manager with annual competency and skills evaluations for all staff* Provides, creates and identifies ongoing training needs for employees including orientation and in-services.* Plans, educates and evaluates appropriate learning experiences for all levels of staff.* Assist with the staff rotations through all entities in PST, ensuring all competencies are metArea/Unit Specific Essential Tasks and ResponsibilitiesRegulatory compliance* Works with Environmental Services, Materials Management Department and Biomed to ensure that routine rounding is performed, inventories and PM's are conducted and prescribed levels of specialty supplies and equipment are maintained.* Investigates complaints and/or non compliance of policies, initiates follow up actions as warranted and communicates these issues to PST Nurse Manager.* Assist the PST Nurse Manager with the creation and revisions of policy and procedures.* Assist with the staff compliance in meeting regulatory and organizational requirements.Provide quality service* Competent in supporting all entities within PST.* Demonstrates organizational skills that promote timely, equitable, integrated, and efficient outcomes for patient throughput.Assist in the developing of the staff assignments.* Assists with assigning daily tasks based on patient acuity and staff competency level.* Assist in developing staffing plan for PST and reviews the PST schedule(s) on an ongoing basis.* Collaborates with PST Charge Nurse (s) to appropriately staff all campuses to promote optimal patient outcomesActs as a professional and clinical resource.* Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the Clinical Coordinator Role* Role models professional behavior in communications and demeanor* Assures compliance with established department standards, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.* Actively supports and promotes a professional practice model that encourages staff participation in the development of clinical standards that is collaborative, collegial and utilizes best practice research.Physical Demands* Weight Lifted: Up to50 lbs, Occasionally 0-30% of time* Weight Carried: Up to 50 lbs, Occasionally 0-30% of time* Vision: Heavy, Constantly 66-100% of time* Kneeling/Stooping/Bending: Frequently 31-65%* Standing/Walking: Frequently 31-65%* Pushing/Pulling: Frequently 31-65%* Intensity of Work: Frequently 31-65%* Job Requires: Reading, Writing, Reasoning, Talking, Keyboarding, DrivingEnvironment and Working Conditions* OSHA Category I: Job classifications in which the normal duties may involve contact and potential exposure to blood or other potentially infectious or hazardous materials.
