Responsible for performing and assessing highly technical and complex clinical laboratory tests on specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in a timely fashion. Job Responsibilities:- Assists in monitoring and compliance of organization's Service Standards by laboratory employees.- Ensures that the Supervisor is kept aware of work situations and the performance of each employee on an on-going basis.- Trains newly hired technical staff effectively in the procedures of the department and pertinent policies.- Prepares and sets-up equipment, testing compounds and work area.- Calibrates, conducts performance checks, records and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments according to laboratory policy.- Completes all scheduled and stat tests in a timely fashion.- Places sample tubes in appropriate centrifuge for retrieving best plasma sample.- Makes a determination of normal and abnormal test values accurately.- Verifies the accuracy and completeness of results.- Ensures proficiency testing samples are distributed and rotated among technical staff.- Performs all other duties assigned by Supervisor and/or designee.Minimum Qualifications1. Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist issued by the NYSED; and2. One year of full-time paid experience as a technologist performing pertinent tests and analyses in a clinical laboratory as defined in Title V, Section 57 1 of the New York State Public Health LawNYC Health and Hospitals offers a competitive benefits package that includes:
