TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population.Incumbent must be thoroughly familiar with, understand and be able to follow all prescribed policies, protocols, procedures and methodologies as utilized in the section to which he/she is assigned.Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.
Duties of a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist may include but are not limited to the following: - Has line responsibility for the performance of clinical analysis in the Department of Laboratories Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory.
- Willing to work with HIV positive specimens.
- Under general direction of the senior staff member, assist in the setting up of equipment and procedures, modification and update of existing procedures and development of overall departmental procedure manuals.
- Assists in the development and implementation of new diagnostic procedures.
- Assists in the development and implementation of a routine preventative maintenance program for equipment troubleshooting equipment and protocol issues.Bring to the attention of senior staff and department head all lab problems.
- Instructs house staff, pathology residents and fellows, nursing staff and fellow laboratory technologists in current laboratory theory and technique.
- Efficient use of several hospital and departmental computer information systems.
- Will rotate between Cytogenetics and Molecular Diagnostics Laboratories and perform clinical testing in the lab, as assigned.
QualificationsRequired:SL-1: Clinical Laboratory Technologist IV:NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 0-2 years demonstrated relevant experience. SL-2: Clinical Laboratory Technologist III:NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 3-5 years demonstrated relevant experience. SL-3Clinical Laboratory Technologist II:NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with a minimum 6 years demonstrated relevant experience.
Preferred: Experience in Molecular Biology, PCR, real-time PCR and sequencing.

PER DIEM Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary rate for this position has been established as $67.63. The above salary rate represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
