Location:Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK)Department:Developmental Therapeutic Units (DTUs)Reports to:Director

Overview:

TheNurse Leader of Developmental Therapeutic Units (DTUs)atMemorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK)plays a pivotal role in overseeingnursing operations, patient care, and research coordinationwithin theearly-phase clinical trial setting. This leader ensures thathigh-quality, evidence-based nursing careis provided while fostering collaboration betweenclinical teams, research staff, and ancillary servicesto drive innovation in cancertreatment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership&Operational Oversight

  • Providestrategic leadershipfor nursing operations acrossourDevelopmental Therapeutic Units.
  • Develop and implementstandardized policies, procedures, and protocolsto enhance clinical trial workflows.
  • Collaborate withclinical researchers, physicians, and interdisciplinary teamsto ensure seamless integration ofearly-phase clinical trialsinto patient care.

Patient Care&Safety

  • Oversee the delivery ofspecialized nursing carefor patients enrolled inearly phase clinicaltrials.
  • Ensure compliance withGood Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Monitor and addressadverse events, patient safety concerns, and protocol deviationstomaintainthe highest standards of patient care.

Team Development&Staff Engagement

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team ofnursesand research staffwithin the DTUs.
  • Foster aculture of continuous learning, professional development, and excellence inoncology clinical research nursing.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, staff training, and competency assessments.

Collaboration&Research Coordination

  • Act as aliaison between nursing, research, and administrative teamstofacilitateefficient trial implementation.
  • Partner withPharmacy, Lab Medicine, and regulatory teamstooptimizeclinical trial processes.
  • Engage inprocess improvement initiativesto enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Regulatory Compliance&Quality Improvement

  • Ensure adherence toclinical trial protocols, safety regulations, and institutional research guidelines.
  • Participate inaudit preparation, protocol review, and compliance monitoring.
  • Utilizedata-driven decision-makingto improve workflow efficiency and patient care.

Qualifications:

Education&Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)required;Master'sdegree (MSN, MHA, or related field) preferred.
  • Minimum of5 years of nursing experience, with at least2 years in oncology, clinical research, or a leadership role.
