Job Responsibilities

Food and Safety OversightEnsures compliance with U.S. FDA menu labeling laws across on-campus dining, retail, C-stores, and catering, including both print and digital menus. Utilizes nutrition analysis software to verify labeling accuracy for menus and grab-n-go items. Collaborates with the culinary team on menu planning, dietary accommodations, and special meal preparations. Promotes food safety and allergen management through educational training and partners with the Safety Champion to ensure food safety standards are met. May serve as a regional subject matter expert in Health & Wellness, National Menu Labeling, and/or Allergen Management.

Campus Programming and EducationSupports health and wellness initiatives, including tabling events, food samplings, cooking demos, and health fairs. Collaborates with the Marketing Manager to engage students through social media, pop-up events, and meal plan support. Mentors dietetic interns and supports campus event programming, client relations, and contract retention. Stays informed on dining, nutrition, and sustainability trends, analyzing customer satisfaction and collaborating with campus organizations and advisory boards.

Nutrition ConsultationsProvides one-on-one and group nutrition counseling for students, faculty, and staff, applying Medical Nutrition Therapy and the Nutrition Care Process. Refers students to medical professionals when necessary and works with campus services for meal plan accommodations. Offers campus dining tours and adheres to HIPAA and FERPA guidelines. Maintains professional credentials and continuing education to stay up-to-date in the field.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition and dietetics from an accredited university.
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential with Commission on Dietetic Registration and state licensure (if applicable). RDN-eligible candidates must pass the exam within 6 months.
  • Food safety knowledge with ServSafe certification, to be obtained within 6 weeks of hire.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, food/health sciences, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in K-12, higher education, or food service.
  • Proficiency in PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with experience in food production systems, nutrition software, electronic medical records, and social media platforms preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to develop and deliver training and presentations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with diverse individuals.
  • Strategic, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Self-starter, motivated, and capable of working independently.
  • Team-oriented with a flexible, creative attitude.
  • High integrity and strong listening skills.
