About the Role

Trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques used to address issues, including depression, addiction and substance abuse, suicidal impulses, stress, problems with self-esteem, and grief. Counselor's work with individuals, families, and groups to address and treat clients. Works independently with weekly supervision, is capable of directing and motivating clients and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Appropriately assesses client treatment needs and provides treatment recommendations.
  • Provides individual and group counseling using evidence-based techniques.
  • Coordinates treatment with other providers to ensure best client care and ensures appropriate aftercare plan for all assigned clients.
  • Ensures appropriate aftercare plan for all assigned clients.
  • Effectively manages crisis situations on the unit.
  • Documents in the clinical record according to requirements of the regulatory agencies.
  • Follows and oversees the utilization review process.
  • May be required to transport clients in personal or Agency vehicle
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Connecticut State Licensure - LCSW and two (2) years relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a Recovery-Oriented System of Care and clinical supervision experience.
  • Experience in individual, group and family therapy.
  • Knowledge of the 12 Step Program.
  • Considerable written and oral communication skills.
  • Spanish speaking preferred.
