DescriptionClubhouse ManagerREPORTS TO: Assistant General ManagerSUPERVISES: Banquet & Catering Manager, Restaurant Manager, Clubhouse StaffCOORDINATES WITH: Executive ChefBASIC FUNCTION:As the frontline leadership of the Clubhouse staff, the Clubhouse Manager is responsible for ensuring that Members and guests consistently enjoy a high-quality dining and Clubhouse experience. He/she/they ensure the existence of appropriate Clubhouse and Food & Beverage operating policies and procedures in the interest of sound Member and Employee Relations and is responsible for the implementation and enforcement of them with and through the staff.This includes assisting the Assistant General Manager in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budgets for the Clubhouse and Food & Beverage departments and, after Board approval, monitoring management performance against the budget and regularly reporting results. The Clubhouse Manager oversees the entire front-of-the-house operations in the Food & Beverage Department, acts as MOD on the floor, and is responsible for the planning and execution for all major Club hosted events.The Clubhouse Manager is responsible for the promotion of the Club and the dissemination of hospitality, friendliness and goodwill among all Members and guests. His/her/their goal is always to help Members and their guests enjoy the facilities and programs of their Club, and ultimately shape, both short and long term, the Member and guest experiences at Eastward Ho!.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides exceptional leadership and a positive upbeat image for the Club and its amenities. Leads with the dictate to provide Members with premier service in dining and the overall guest experience.Plans his/her/their work schedule to be personally visible and readily accessible to Members and their guests. Acts as MOD on the floor when needed and works as opening or closing Manager for the Clubhouse and Food & Beverage Department.Oversees and shapes the food and beverage front-of-the-house operations, and coordinates with the Culinary Department and Executive Chef, to be first-class, with interesting, diverse menu offerings, effective pricing, and featuring exemplary service by a staff that is cognizant of the various dining options and specifics. Develops and promotes creative special events.Responsible for all major Club hosted events including the promotion, execution and vendor communications.Assures the smooth, efficient daily operation of the Club to provide the Members and guests with the environment for which Eastward Ho! is renowned.Develops written standards for operating areas using the highest standards for all dining, entertainment, and other Club services and amenities.Addresses and resolves Member complaints and suggestions in such areas as dining, general service, employee attitude, maintenance, and cosmetic appearance (housekeeping) of the facility.EMPLOYEE RELATIONSIn conjunction with the Assistant General Manager and Human Resources Manager, administers all Clubhouse compensation and employment policies.Interviews and appraises all applicants for Clubhouse and Food & Beverage positions. Exercises approval, subject to Assistant General Manager oversight.Oversees training programs of all staff so that the Member dining and Clubhouse experiences are consistent.Creates and supports a culture of service that permeates the entire Clubhouse operations. Creates an environment of team spirit.Consults with the Assistant General Manager and Human Resources Manager, pursuant to the appraisal, discipline, and/or discharge of any employee under their supervision. Supports a structure and system for performance management - the cycle of goal setting, execution and assessment annually.Leads the process of annual performance appraisals for all Clubhouse and front-of-the-house employees.Ensures that a positive and healthy work environment exists throughout the Club, one that is free of safety risks and all forms of employee harassment.COMMUNICATIONSDevelops ongoing dialogue and rapport with Club Members through personal recognition, communication, the Club's newsletter, email communications, social media and follow through.Keeps the Assistant General Manager informed of all significant, or potentially significant, operating matters and problem areas.CLUB MANAGEMENT - GENERALConsults with the Assistant General Manager and peers on Club-wide administrative policies, suggests changes, and may direct the implementation of change.Periodically conducts surveys of Members and employees on matters of importance with respect to Clubhouse operations to ensure that Member and employee interests are served. Shares survey responses with peers and ensures that matters of concern are addressed.In concert with the Assistant General Manager and his/her/their peers as appropriate, provides on-site supervision of Clubhouse capital projects and administrative support for all other capital projects, including those involving construction and renovation.Participates in the general care, maintenance, and upkeep of the Clubhouse and facilities, and ongoing preventive maintenance programs.Participates in the security of Club property, its environment and Members' belongings.Contributes to writing the Club newsletter and website content as needed.Attends meetings of the various committees of the Club as required.Assures the Club operates in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal laws.Furthers his/her/their own continued development as a club management professional by participation in appropriate Club Manager Association of America (CMAA) seminars and conferences, and others as approved, thereby enhancing his/her/their value and quality of services to the membership.QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and preferably in a Hospitality related discipline. The CCM professional certification is preferred but not required.Experience: Minimum of ten years' experience in the Hospitality industry with at least five years' experience in a management/supervisory role(s) in a well-established and highly regarded private country club. Experience in a member-owned club highly desirable.Skills: Leadership, strong Communication (both written and verbal), Interpersonal, Financial Analysis, Computer literacy, and Social.Attributes: Displaying Behavior of Honesty and Integrity; High level of Ethical Standards; Personable; Values Teamwork and Member Service; Respectful of others.
