BASIC QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION/TRAINING:- Successful completion of the New Jersey State-approved Nursing Assistant program- High School diploma or equivalent- Current CNA licenseSKILLS:- Self-motivated with the ability to deal with residents under all conditions- Sincere desire to work with the aged and infirmed- Ability to anticipate the needs and moods of residents and interact with residents under all conditions- Knowledge of computer functions, including designated organization-approved electronic software- Excellent communication skills with residents, staff, families and the public- Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this positionEXPERIENCE:- 1-year experience preferredGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Understanding of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations- Delivery of non-acute nursing care- Assist residents by supporting personal hygiene and daily living needsSTANDARD REQUIREMENTS:- Support the Mission, Values and Vision of the Holland Christian Home- Understand and honor the Christian principles of the organization- Demonstrate an understanding of the Residential Living principles, including resident choice, privacy, independence, and dignity in all interactions with residents- Demonstrate an understanding of the aging process, cognitive impairments, Alzheimer's and other dementias- Ensure all assigned user ID codes and passwords for accessing resident / facility information are kept confidential; ensure the departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screen-saver activates within established facility policy guidelines- Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Administrator- Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility's information system- Maintain HIPAA compliance as well as confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee and operations data- Exhibit concern for safety and well-being of staff, residents, families, and visitorsESSENTIAL DUTIES:- Provide personal hygiene including bathing, oral care, skin and nail care and hand washing- Complete resident grooming including hair care, shaving, dressing and weighing- Assist with resident toileting, bowel and bladder training and perineal care- Bed making- Perform and assist with resident mobility, transferring, ambulation, positioning and range of motion- Use appropriate and safe body technique when lifting and/or transferring residents or supplies- Use mechanical equipment and assistive devices for patient handling tasks as identified, according to the individual resident Care Plan and the Safe Patient Handling Act.- Use aseptic techniques for purpose of infection control; this includes good hand washing techniques and infection control policies- Adhere to facility infection control practices and standards- Carry out Universal Precaution procedures and isolation techniques- Assist in orienting residents to household environment and routines upon admission and throughout stay as needed- Electronically document accurately all care given, including dietary intake and output, temperature, weight, pulse and respirations, using approved abbreviations and descriptive terms- Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information and assure resident rights and privacy is protected at all times- Report to nurse for written and verbal assignments which include daily use of care plans for assigned residents before initiating care- Participate in the planning of resident care through shift reports and resident care staffing meetings when assigned- Inform verbally and/or submit in writing any observations and changes in a resident for the Licensed Nurse to evaluate- Serve residents their meals, motivating and assisting them with intake of nourishment and fluids- Observe resident's dietary intake and report any changes to the Charge Nurse- Answer all call signals and requests of resident immediately- Encourage/assist residents in keeping their rooms in an orderly fashion- Maintain the nursing unit in a clean and orderly manner- Keep all residents' personal belongings and equipment clean- Escort residents to appointments as needed- Participate in activity programs planned for residents as needed- Attend and participate in unit nursing staff meetings and monthly professional education programs- Make sure that all residents have their clothes properly labeled and all dentures, hearing aids and glasses are carefully stored and monitored- Respond to resident emergency including bleeding, falls, seizures and performance of Heimlich Maneuver- Assist with post mortem care as assigned- Monitor residents with Tab monitors- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest as well as a calm environment throughout the HomeOTHER DUTIES:- Timely completion of all required in-services- Must be present for at least one mandatory annual fire drill- Must participate in annual N95 Fit Testing- All other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the position or as may be assignedHOURS OF WORK:- As per department schedule- Weekends, if requiredCurrently licensed as a CNA by the State of New JerseySuccessful completion of the New Jersey state-approved Nursing Assistant ProgramHigh school diploma or equivalentFull Time $3,000 Sign on BonusPart Time $2,000 - $2,500 Sign on BonusCompetitive CNA wages commensurate with experienceBenefits:Medical, vision, and dental insuranceComplimentary life insurance valued at $25,000Paid time off for sickness, vacation, bereavement, and personal timePaid holidaysFree on-site parkingFree mealsContinuing education credits (CE) that you can earn onlineJob Types: Full-time, Part-timeWork Location: In person
