Job Description CNC Machine Operator I -2nd Shift (Full Time)Department: All OpeningsResponsible for assisting the Supervisor in the production of high quality Machined aircraft parts following Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions. Assists in meeting or exceeding planned production and delivery schedules while maximizing company resources to achieve company goals. Essential Job Functions: Performs or assists the Supervisor in the following tasks:• Operates a CNC Mill, a CNC lathe or Manual/Vertical Mills.• Touches off tools, loads programs, sets work coordinates, loads fixtures as well as parts & materials.• Performs daily preventive maintenance as required• Performs first part and other quality checks using standard measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, pin gages, check tools, etc.• Inspects and buys off own work using Piper inspection certifications• Maintain compliance with Piper QAM/QIM and FAA requirements.• Operates material handling equipment as required to load and unload fixtures, material and parts.• Partner with senior teammates within career path to receive and share practical knowledge for proper training to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.• Adhere and maintain all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.• Performs other duties as assigned by supervision. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.• High school diploma or equivalent• Successful completion CNC Machine Operator program or 2 years' experience preferred• Related CNC machine experience requirements: o CNC Machine Operator I: ≤ 2 years of experience o CNC Machine Operator II: 2 - 5 years of experience o Senior CNC Operator: ≥ 5 years of experience• Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime• Ability to work with minimal supervision• Use of hand and power tools as required• Follow all safety procedures• Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).• Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions Physical Demands• Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate job specific equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. Other physical requirements include the ability to bend, kneel, crouch, twist, balance and reach above, out, and below. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. Working Conditions• Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors. May be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous or moving equipment, wet slippery floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.• Interacts regularly with various staff and employees, and occasionally with vendors, suppliers, community members and regulatory agency representatives.
