CNC MACHINE OPERATOR - Snap-on Tools : Job Details

Overview

Position Summary: Set-up and operate, in a safe manner, any and/or all machining, automation and polishing equipment within a production cell. This will include all quality checks per the control plan.

Responsibilities

KEY TASKS

* Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates and fixtures.

* Remove and replace dull cutting tools

* Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machine, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

* Listen to machine during operation in order to detect sounds as those made by dull cutting tools and adjust machines to compensate

* Adjust machine feeds and speed, change cutting tools or adjust machine controls when necessary.

* Stop machine or remove finished workpieces or to change tooling according to required machining sequences

* Calculate machine speed and fee ratios and the size and position of cuts

* Check to ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operations

* Set-up and operate computer controlled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions.

* Confer with supervisor or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or errors.

* Monitor machine operation and control panel displays

* Maintain machines and remove/replace broken/worn tools

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or 1 to 3 years manufacturing experience.

Level 4 CRC Preferred

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals and fractions. Work from drawings, specifications and formulas involving limited detail. Use and interpret measuring equipment.
