DescriptionD & G Machine Products, Inc., a Certified ISO 9001 & AS9100D Company with a Main Plant located in Westbrook and a Fabrication Plant located in Gorham, Maine, has been offering full-service Precision Machining, Fabrication, Painted and Assembled Machine Products for more than 50 Years.D&G Machine supplies several Nationwide Industries that include: Aerospace, Computer Chip Production, Defense Contracts, Medical, Power Generation, and Maine's Paper Industry.D&G Machine employees have the opportunity to advance within the company after receiving valuable experience, as proven with a majority of our engineers and managers being promoted from the shop floor.JOB SUMMARY:The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, proving out, troubleshooting, and optimizing Computer Numeric Code (CNC) software programs. The CNC Programmer's other duties include reading and interpreting blueprints, programming CNC 3-5 axis milling machines and turning centers using Mastercam, and adjusting the machine settings until desired specifications are met.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Develops, proves out, troubleshoots, and optimizes CNC programs.Works with engineers to analyze technical data (models and drawings) to determine tooling, work-holding, speeds, and feeds.Maintains an organized tool database in Mastercam.Modifies, troubleshoots, and optimizes existing programs for different machining centers.Modifies existing programs to enhance efficiencies.Revises programs to eliminate errors, retests programs to check that problems have been solved.Analyzes job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data to calculate dimensions, tool selections, machine speeds, and feed rates.Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists for the machine's controller to guide setup and encode numerical control instructions.Observes the machine process on trial runs or conducts computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.Makes or offers suggestions on drawing changes to improve manufacturability.Draws upon experience and knowledge of machine controls and programming to improve processes and identify opportunities to enhance product quality and increase efficiencies.Maintains safe operation by adhering to safety procedures and protocols.Functions autonomously and in a team environment.Maintains a clean and safe working area.REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:High school diploma or equivalent required.2-year technical or associate degree in machining preferred.Minimum 3 years' CNC machining experience preferred.Mastercam experience required, 3-5 years preferred.Strong understanding of machining strategies for various grades of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals required.Experience programming CNC turning centers and 3 - 5 axis CNC mills.Familiarity with Edgecam, Fusion 360, and Solidworks preferred.Experience transitioning parts from first article to production.Mechanical aptitude and an understanding of design for manufacturing concepts.Must be able to read and understand blueprints and routings.Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.Must pass a post-employment offer drug screen and background check.EEO STATEMENTD & G Machine Products, Inc. provides Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religious creed, sex, national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, pregnancy, childbirth, physical disability, mental and/or intellectual disability, age, military status or status as a Vietnam-era or special disabled veteran, marital status, registered domestic partner or civil union status, gender (including sex stereotyping and gender identity or expression), medical condition (including but not limited to, cancer related or HIV/AIDS related), genetic information or sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
