ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Health Services Department: Business OfficeSUPERVISOR: Business Office ManagerFLSA: Non- ExemptSALARY RANGE: $12.00- $23.00ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS: In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family. JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for entering into the RPMS software system patient information, diagnoses, and procedures using ICD-9 and CPT codes.CPN Health Services personnel may be assigned to provide services to patients of all ages including but not limited to Indian Children and will require a criminal history background screening.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Abstracts the PCC Ambulatory Encounter form or the Electronic Health Record and accurately codes diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT codes. Enters patient data into the RPMS software system in a timely manner. Works closely with all medical staff to insure legibility and appropriate documentation on the PCC encounter form and in the Electronic Health Record. Detects and corrects coding errors. Generates PCC and Coding Queue error listings on a weekly basis and researches error to correct as needed. Performs duties relevant to the Electronic Health Record, E.H.R., and views data in E.H.R. as needed to perform duties. ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Perform other duties and projects as required by management.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other staff. Strong and fast typing skills are required ICD-10 coding. Skill in using a computer and knowledge of the software to access and interpret PCC data. The ability to follow directions.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Training in medical coding using ICD-10 and CPT codes is preferred. Prior experience working with RPMS is preferred. 2-3 years medical office experience is required; less experience would be considered only by the approval of the Business Office Manager.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to be seated for prolonged periods of time and do repetitive work at the computer. May be some lifting, bending, and stretching involved. The ability to handle large workload with demanding deadlines.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Health facility office environment.
