Key Responsibilities of the Collection Specialist Include:
  • Make outbound collection calls to external customers, providing clear communication and excellent customer service on collections matters.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to resolve collection issues efficiently.
  • Monitor outstanding account balances and determine appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Approve or deny credit limit overrides while managing the credit risk process.
  • Professionally and promptly reconcile and resolve account discrepancies.
  • Manage inbound customer calls, addressing concerns regarding account status and payment issues.
  • Send missing invoices, statements, and account documents upon request.
  • Track and update past due invoices to ensure accurate aging reports and collection strategies.
Qualifications for Successful Collection Specialist Candidates:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum one year of business-to-business (B2B), first-party collections experience.
  • Strong understanding of the full-cycle Accounts Receivable process is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clear and professional interactions.
  • Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and other financial figures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate to advanced level), with experience in data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience using ERP systems (Microsoft Great Plains or similar)
