ABOUT THE LUCAS MUSEUM OF NARRATIVE ARTAs the first museum to focus exclusively on storytelling through images, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art believes that visual storytelling can connect us and help shape a more just society. An 11-acre campus with extensive new green space designed by Studio-MLA will embrace the museum's 300,000-square-foot building, which will feature expansive galleries, two state-of-the-art theaters, and dedicated spaces for learning and engagement, dining, retail, and events. www.lucasmuseum.org.POSITION SUMMARYThe Lucas Museum of Narrative Art seeks a Collections Management Technician, Generalist Level I role to join the growing Collections Management team. This entry level role joins a team of technicians playing an important role in the collections care and storage processes that are vital to the success of the museum. Reporting to the Associate Collections Managers, this position works on general and project-based tasks in both on-site and off-site collections storage spaces. These duties will include object handling and movement, housing construction, collections care and identification, cleaning processes, and pest management protocols. This role will also be asked to assist and monitor outside visitors and contractors including photographers, researchers, and conservators as needed.RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assists with art handling, movement, and tracking of collections in storage, back-of-house, and gallery spaces
    • Assists other Museum Services staff in collections processing and care projects with tasks including rehousing, unpacking/packing, object handling, and locating in storage areas
    • Works as part of the CM team to complete work orders, achieve milestones, and manage collection needs
    • Works on special projects and teams as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
    • High school graduate or equivalent education
    • Minimum 12 months experience in a museum, art gallery, or professional art handling capacity or art storage settings
