Job Type: Part time—20 hours per week

Department: Student Accounts

Reports to: Bursar

Job Summary:

The Collections Specialist is primarily responsible for monitoring collections and past due student accounts in order to provide successful resolution for delinquent accounts including payment receipt through continued student contact via outbound telephone, e-mail, and other forms of communication. This part-time position is 20 hours per week.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain student receivable records, including but not limited to resolution process development, account adjustments, and placement with collection agency
  • Work directly with students regarding delinquent payments, investigate discrepancies, and negotiate repayment
  • Receive and process inquiries from Admissions as they relate to open balances for students who have expressed an interest in returning to the college
  • Answer incoming calls and provide customer service at the front desk
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency with office software such as Microsoft and Google suites
  • Ability to follow internal procedures
  • Must perform all functions in a self-driven manner with a positive and customer service focused attitude

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or GED required, Associate's degree preferred
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague preferred

Physical Requirements:

Use of general office equipment in an office setting. Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, light lifting to perform essential job functions.
