Job DescriptionPOSITION PURPOSE: The College Navigator will provide holistic, personalized support to students to enhance their academic and career success. This role involves guiding students through college systems, offering academic and career counseling, connecting them with campus resources, and addressing academic and non-academic barriers. The College Navigator will employ data-driven interventions, work closely with various departments, and maintain a student-centered approach. This position will provide services on the Corsicana campus. This temporary position is contingent on meeting specific institutional goals related to student success and completion rates. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Personalized Student Support
- Provide one-on-one advising to students, helping them navigate college systems, academic requirements, and career planning.
- Assist students with course selection, registration, and creating individualized academic plans aligned with their career goals.
Academic Advising
- Offer guidance on academic policies, degree requirements, and transfer opportunities.
- Monitor students' academic progress, identify at-risk students using predictive analytics, and deploy timely interventions.
Career Counseling
- Help students explore career options and align their academic pursuits with career goals.
- Facilitate access to internships, job placements, and networking opportunities with local industries and employers.
Resource Connection
- Connect students with campus resources such as tutoring, financial aid, counseling services, and extracurricular activities.
- Act as a liaison between students and various departments within the college.
Holistic Support
- Address non-academic barriers to success, such as financial issues, housing, and transportation.
- Provide support for personal challenges that may impact academic performance.
Data-Driven Interventions
- Utilize early alert systems and data analytics to identify and support at-risk students.
- Maintain detailed records of student interactions and progress and use data to inform advising strategies.
Integrated Support Systems
- Collaborate closely with faculty, academic departments, student services, and other campus resources to provide seamless student support.
- Participate in implementing the Guided Pathways framework, ensuring integrated academic and career advising.
Training and Professional Development
- Engage in continuous professional development and training on advising techniques, college resources, student development theory, and practices.
- Stay current with best practices in student support and advising.
Holistic Advising
- Develop and implement advising practices that are student-centered.
- Support the diverse needs of the student population, including historically underserved and marginalized groups.
Continuous Assessment and Improvement
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of navigator programs and make data-informed adjustments to improve outcomes.
- Participate in institutional assessments and contribute to program evaluations.
Completion and Degree Audits
- Review degree audits to ensure students are on track to meet graduation requirements.
- Conduct regular check-ins with students to discuss their progress toward degree completion.
- Implement strategies to increase completion rates, such as identifying and addressing barriers to graduation.
- Collaborate with the registrar and academic departments to resolve degree requirements and course substitution issues.
Goal Achievement and Position Evaluation
- Work towards achieving specific institutional goals related to student retention, success, and completion rates.
- Regularly report on progress towards these goals and participate in evaluations to determine the position's effectiveness.
- Understand that continuation of the position is contingent on meeting established benchmarks and institutional goals.

- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using data analytics tools and early alert systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student support.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
- At least two years of experience in academic advising, career counseling, or a related field in higher education, preferably focusing on completion and/or transfer programs.
Preferred:
- Master's degree preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
- One Saturday a month from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, flexing hours during the workweek to accommodate this monthly Saturday work.
- Variance from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the positions.
- Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.
- Assignment may require travel to service area locations.
SALARY: $36,000. annually / This is a 12 month position to be paid over 12 months
