About the OpportunityEriez is seeking a Column Product Line Manager to provide product and market intelligence to the company with the clear objective of increasing market share and profitability. In collaboration with Engineering and R&D, the Product Line Manager will define all product specifications as well as work with Sales and Marketing to establish pricing and promotional strategies. Other job duties include monitoring emerging product trends, reporting on competitive developments, determine market price and position strategy, and forecasting customer demand. - Specifies product attributes. Develops and manages activities of the product line from product definition and planning through production, release, improvements, maintenance and end of life
- Create and maintain product specifications
- Manages the standardization and commercialization of the product line
- Leverage extensive global network of customers to promote the concept of the product and to learn about the functional requirements to be competitive in the marketplace
- Serves as the central resource for design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, quality, training and marketing as the products move to production and distribution
- Responsible for ensuring product design considers safety during the installation and operational phases including accessibility and serviceability
- Provide support to the aftermarket phase of the product through involvement with the development of product specific services products and reviewing of significant aftermarket business cases to ensure alignment with the product development strategy
- Work closely with Eriez Services & Aftermarket Group to ensure design considers the entire product lifecycle, including equipment serviceability and performance sustainability
- Assists the Subsidiary/Global Managing Director or their designee to develop business plans to identify, interpret, and define local market requirements
- Conducts market research, monitors competitive activity (number of competitors, price, market share, performance), identifies customer needs and product shortcomings. Coordinates same with global/local marketing teams
- Assists with the development of sales forecast for the product. Establishes pricing strategies and monitors marginal income. Works with sales team to maintain these metrics within specified targets and approves exceptions
- Works with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales to develop new products or enhance existing products using the Stage-Gate system
- Continually review product line and obsolete non-competitive and low margin equipment
- Identifies local customer requirements to enter specific market
- Provides support for key customer accounts
- Continually reviews competitive products and summarizes current state-of-the-art
- Watches for acquisition opportunities in the product space - competitive or complementary products
- Gain deep understanding of customer requirements, identify and fill product gaps and generate ideas for new products
- Create buy-in for the product vision/benefits both internally and with key customers for the 'rougher' and 'cleaner' markets
- Develop product pricing and positioning strategies
- Translates product strategies into detailed product specifications
- Work closely with R&D on product development timelines and milestones
- Drive product launches by visiting customers to solicit feedback
- Represent Eriez by visiting customers to solicit performance feedback
- Develop case studies for marketing purposes to highlight equipment value proposition and advantages over other technologies
- Responsible for oversight of general product application development and prioritization as well as review and approval of specific applications that deviate from approved product applications
- Other activities and responsibilities as determined from time to time and as required by changing market conditions
About You
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mining/minerals processing-related activities
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline required
- Master's Degree in an Engineering discipline preferred
- Strong written/oral communication skills
- Able to prepare and present related subject matter in a professional and digestible manner
- Able to track record in customer-related activities - sales, marketing, training, other
- Project management experience required
- Financial understanding to develop value proposition an advantage
- Demonstrated ability to work in a global structure in a matrix organization
- Ability to relate to customers and their requirements
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
