Combination Metal Mechanic - VTG : Job Details

OverviewVTG is seeking a Combination Metal Mechanic located in our Fabrication Shop in Virginia Beach, VA. What will you do?Assemble, erect, fit, weld, and test metal assemblies, using a variety of power tools, hand tools, and welding equipment by performing the following duties:

• Welds metal parts together using a combination of arc welding processes.

• Performs related tasks such as cutting and grinding.

• Cuts metal using Oxygen/Acetylene torch or hand held plasma cutting machine.

• Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.

• Assembles components such as hydraulic hoses and pumps, electrical motors, electrical wire harnesses, mechanical jacks, fabricated assemblies, etc.

• Tests electrical and mechanical systems on assemblies for proper operation.

Do you have what it takes?Education/Experience:

• HS plus three years related experience; AS plus one

Mathematical Skills:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Must pass precertification company welding test.
