DescriptionThe O&M Technician must demonstrate a thorough understanding and proven knowledge of all production, steam distribution, electrical power systems and their associated equipment; to ensure efficiency, reliability, and safety in production of power for the overall plant operations and maintenance. This position requires solid operating decisions based on plant procedures, environmental regulations, safety procedures, and using good judgment based on operating data.Lawrenceburg Power LLC is a Combined Cycle 4X2 1200mw Power Plant consisting of four (4) GE 7FA Combustion Turbines, four (4) Aalborg HRSG's, two (2) GE D11 Steam Turbine and supporting balance of plant equipment. Five (5) CAT Black Start Diesel Generators.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform equipment checks to ensure safe and efficient operations during the start-up, operation and shutdown of turbines, generators, condensers, boilers/heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), boiler feed pumps, exciters, transformers, switchyard, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Operate valves, pumps, electrical disconnects, breakers and controls, etc. from remote locations as needed.
  • Take appropriate actions in the event of abnormal plant equipment conditions. Monitor field controlling, indicating, and recording devices, compare results with established standards and adjust as conditions require.
  • Enter and review data in the electronic logbook and electronic rounds log.
  • Monitor and respond to alarms and unusual conditions to ensure proper operation of equipment within established standards and report / document irregular and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Maintain and monitor basic boiler water chemistry and other plant cycle chemistry by reviewing operational data and collecting and analyzing samples.
  • Maintain and operate the water treatment plant.
  • Operate and maintain precision laboratory and field analyzers with QA/QC standards. Unload deliveries of chemicals and gases per site
  • Monitor, inspect, install, remove, test, adjust, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, instrumentation and plant controls systems and components.
  • Use elementary, schematic, wiring and control diagrams to locate, troubleshoot and repair control systems involving electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic components.
  • Use electrical and instrumentation test equipment to troubleshoot and calibrate plant equipment.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance work including dismantling, rebuilding, adjusting, aligning, packing, and cleaning equipment. Repair valves, actuators, piping, and small pumps such as centrifugal, sump diaphragm, etc.
  • Perform predictive and preventive maintenance work by inspecting monitoring, lubricating, troubleshooting, and testing plant equipment to determine conditions such as wear, corrosion, and deposits.
  • Perform inspections and corrective maintenance activities on plant equipment and components. Conduct chemical tests and inspections to ensure proper operation of the plant.
  • Use work management systems to initiate, retrieve and update work orders, material requests, PM's, and time entry, etc.
  • Use various computer applications and software programs such as PI to extract data, analyze trends and report status to ensure plant reliability and efficiency.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain and calibrate environmental and industrial hygiene equipment such as CEMS, gas detection devices, etc.
  • Conduct JSAs, utilize JHAs, SDS's, etc. and follow established facility guidelines in job briefings. Work under general direction of CC Supervisor.
  • Isolate plant equipment and remove stored energy in accordance with the Clearance Permit Procedure.
  • Obtain clearance permits and ensure that equipment is properly cleared and tagged before work begins in accordance with the Clearance Permit Procedure.
  • Obtain hot work and confined space permits in accordance with Lawrenceburg Power, LLC policies to complete work safely.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations, and Lawrenceburg Power, LLC policies, procedures, standards, and specifications.
  • Attend and actively participate in environmental, safety and health, technical, business and leadership training and meetings.
  • Report and correct any unsafe actions, conditions or near misses.
  • Responsible for exercising maximum care and good judgment in preventing accidents and protecting the safety and health of fellow workers.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Demonstrate strong positive attitude, ethical behavior and show strong leadership in safe and healthy work behaviors and environmental stewardship.
  • Adhere to proper operating practices and procedures designed to prevent injury, illness, and environmental noncompliance.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. Associate degree, Vocational Technical School (two-year college) is preferred or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Prefer +5 years of Combined Cycle power plant experience in operations, maintenance, electrical, instrumentation and controls in gas turbine/HRSG systems. Other experience will be considered.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass a background check and a drug & alcohol test.
  • Must have a knowledge of applicable operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
  • Understand the care and attention required for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the equipment to which assigned.
  • Must have a knowledge of the principles of operating the plant safely and efficiently during start-up, normal operation, and shutdown of boilers / HRSGs, turbines, generators, condensers, boiler feed pumps, exciters, transformers, etc. and their auxiliaries and accessories.
  • Must have the skills and knowledge of plant operations, control room, power block, Water Treatment Plant.
  • Must have knowledge and skills needed to analyze, interpret, calibrate, and adjust plant instruments and controls, and be capable of detecting and making repairs to simple control systems and understand protective systems.
  • Must have knowledge and skills of chemical tests, procedures, reagents, etc. to perform chemical analysis, industrial hygiene evaluations and environmental sampling.
  • Must have knowledge and skills per minor power plant maintenance, materials, practices, tools, rigging, scaffolding, and blocking involved in the work.
  • Must have a knowledge of heat balance systems and the effect of unbalances on operating efficiency.
  • Physical requirements include lifting 50 pounds, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, ascending, and descending fixed ladders, portable ladders, steps, etc.

  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift that may include holidays.
  • Position will require, at times, overtime coverage; scheduled and call out.
