They develop a book of business by writing and retaining accounts through assigned agencies that have higher growth potential.What are the responsibilities and opportunities of an Underwriter?
  • Develop and maintain a book of business with assigned agencies
  • Understand rating methodology and coverages
  • Travel to assigned agencies to promote products, build agency partnerships, and promote high agency ranking positions.
  • Understand different lines of insurance marketplace and emerging industry issues
  • Use established practices, processes, procedures, and underwriting authority level to analyze the operations and exposure of different types of risk to write, renew, and modify business
  • Use research and analysis to develop practical underwriting solutions that are consistent with organizational objectives
  • Assess risk and exposure on new and existing business to identify opportunities to maximize assigned territory loss ratio and growth objectives
  • Meet business goals through new business growth, renewal retention, and overall profitability for assigned agencies
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
RequirementsWhat is a must-have?
  • Strong understanding of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts
  • Able to multitask and solve problems
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Bachelor's degree in Insurance or Finance or equivalent related experience
What will our ideal candidate have?
  • Working toward CPCU, AU, or CIC Certification
Compensation Overview:The targeted hiring range for this role is $61,750 - $77,140. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role.
