Performs jail operations activities to help maintain order and security in County detention facility. Prepares and maintains required records and reports. Examples of Duties Answers all emergency and conventional telephone lines; obtains vital information and dispatches instructions to appropriate law enforcement, fire, EMS, or emergency preparedness agency; tracks progress of officers to ensure officer safety. Shows good judgment in assessing calls for emergency assistance. | Monitors and operates the telecommunication equipment for the receipt or relaying of various information. | Monitors various law enforcement and emergency response radio communications, alarm panels, radio stations, weather radio, etc. | Receives and responds to calls of a non-emergent nature from the public and various County department employees. | Maintains accurate records of all calls received; enters into the computer a variety of data concerning calls received, cases, etc. | Maintains accurate and updated records of warrants issued. | Performs jail duties as assigned, including processing new inmates, searching inmates and cells for contraband, issuing clothing, distributing meals and medications, monitoring prison activities, monitoring security cameras, operating security locks on doors and gates, summoning medical personnel as needed, etc. | Attends staff meetings and periodic training sessions/seminars as required. | Performs routine office work as needed, including typing, copying and filing reports; entering data into the computer, etc. | Changes dictaphone recorder tapes as needed. | Performs other duties as may be assigned. Education, Experience & LicensesEducation and Experience: Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to the completion of twelfth (12th) grade.
- One (1) year of clerical experience is preferred.
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. License & Special Requirements: • Must successfully complete a POST Dispatch Code course within one (1) year of employment. • Must possess a valid California driver's license. • Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation prior to employment. - Annual salary step increases based upon satisfactory performance and completion of one year of employment (Step A to E).
HEALTH:
- Approximately 80% of the premium for medical, dental, and vision plan is paid by the County (EPO Plan). The plan covers the employee and all eligible dependents at NO ADDITIONAL COST!
- Employee premiums are $234.54 per month as of January 1, 2025 for employee and all eligible dependents.
PAID LEAVES:
