NJ/NY Gotham FC ( Gotham FC or the Club ) is a National Women's Soccer League ( NWSL ) team representing New Jersey and New York. The team plays at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.The Role:Gotham FC is seeking a collaborative teammate to join the Club's communications department as Communications Manager. In this role, the individual will be involved in writing the Club's press releases and feature content; pitching on-field and off-the-field storylines to media members; fielding incoming media inquiries; developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of media outlets; and working closely with players, coaches, and front office executives to raise the profile of the club.The Communications Manager will also be responsible for overseeing and developing best practices for soccer communications, including the creation, and ultimately the management of game notes, game previews, game recaps, and weekly news clips distribution.The position will be primarily based in Whippany, New Jersey and may need to travel to Jersey City or to New York City for various events. In addition, the individual will travel with the team to away games.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, edit, and distribute a variety of club media materials, including media advisories, asset alerts, match notes, media guides, fact sheets, pitches, player bios, and more.
- Act as the liaison between the sporting and business sides of the club.
- Serve as a liaison to facilitate player media opportunities at training and games and maintain an organized schedule of those activities.
- Assist with coordinating logistics for in-person and virtual media tours.
- Draft player signing press releases and assist with accompanying publicity strategy.
- Serve as an internal team statistics resource, maintaining readily accessible information on individual player insights and the team's overall performance to date.
- Update and maintain GothamFC.com with relevant news and player information.
- Support public relations strategies, marketing campaigns, and new club initiatives in a cross-functional capacity that includes collaboration with Community Relations, Marketing, Corporate Partnerships, Social Responsibility, Ticketing, and Operations.
- Manage gameday media operations, including accrediting media, training/managing gameday media staff and interns, managing press box, preparing postgame press conference, and managing postgame mixed zone.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least three to five years of previous experience in a communications or public relations role, preferable in a sports team environment.
- Knowledge of the sport and the women's soccer community.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or journalism-related field preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.

Location: This position is fully in-person based at Gotham FC's soccer operations office and practice facility, located in Whippany, New Jersey.
