Job Description Hilltop Holdings is currently looking to hire a Communications Specialist. Working closely with other members of the Marketing and Communications team and utilizing a variety of communications tools and platforms, this position is responsible for developing and distributing content that effectively communicates key messages to internal and external audiences, with particular emphasis on public relations. Responsibilities
  • Assists the communications team in the writing, editing and distribution of external communications to the news media and other audiences to effectively communicate key messages and announcements for Hilltop Holdings and its family of companies.
  • Writes employee biographies, hiring announcements, and promotion announcements to support the addition and advancement of employees of the Hilltop family of companies.
  • Under the direction of the Corporate Communications Manager fosters relationships with relevant local and industry media contacts and proactively pitches stories to generate interest in Hilltop press releases, events, and media alerts as appropriate.
  • Assists with recording, editing, and publishing internal and public-facing video content and podcasts.
  • Conducts research to support external communications efforts.
  • Assist with maintaining media monitoring platform and generating regular reports for the Communications team and the Director of Marketing and Communications as requested.
  • Researches, writes, edits, and helps distribute internal company emails, flyers, letters, intranet content, newsletter articles, etc. that effectively communicate organizational strategies, policies, and initiatives for Hilltop Holdings and its family of companies.
  • Assists other members of the Marketing and Communications team in the development of ad copy when required.
  • Works with the team to create sales collateral, presentations, customer flyers, customer letters, etc. to support the sales efforts of the Hilltop family of companies when required.
  • Assists with the creation and/or updating of website and blog content as needed.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to commute to Hilltop Plaza @ 6565 Hillcrest, Dallas, without the need for relocation assistance
  • Bachelor's degree required; communication, journalism, marketing or related field preferred
  • 2 or more years of previous copywriting/editing experience required; experience in banking or financial services preferred
  • Demonstrated creative and persuasive writing skills using a variety of communications vehicles and targeting a variety of audiences required; must provide work samples
  • Excellent editing, grammar and proofreading skills required
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required
  • Experience creating and editing video content.
  • Experience recording, editing, and publishing podcasts.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization required.
  • Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office suite required; SharePoint experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt quickly to a rapidly changing environment required
  • Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills required
  • Excellent detail orientation and analytical skills and demonstrated decision making ability required
