* Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations, English, creative writing, technical writing, marketing, or a related field.
* 1-3 years of related professional experience in communications, public relations, journalism, digital content development, outreach, or equivalent work experience.
* Must be a strong writer with an established record of writing news stories and feature stories for print and/or digital publications, with special attention to detail/accuracy and audience.
* Experience with digital communications, including website production and social media.
* Experience creating compelling, engaging, and SEO-focused and ROI-driven digital content.
* Outstanding writing skills; ability to tailor messages to wide audiences.
* Strong command of AP editorial style.
* Excellent proofreading and editorial skills.
* Attention to detail while on deadline. Ability to manage competing demands and complete tasks under time constraints.

Job Description
Responsible for communicating information and messaging for the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University to external and internal audiences through multiple media.
Job Duties
The McCoy College of Business at Texas State University seeks a Communications Specialist to lead the creation of internal and external communications content and to develop and implement cutting-edge communications strategies across a variety of media platforms to expand and engage all of the college's audiences. The position reports directly to the Manager of Marketing and Communications for McCoy College. This vital role executes the written communications for McCoy College by developing high-quality content focusing specifically on its website, online newsroom, online magazine, email newsletter, and social media platforms.
This position supports McCoy College's growing programs, outreach, and research communication with a focus on raising the profile and impact of the college and its faculty, staff, students, alumni, community, and stakeholders. The main duties may include but are not limited to managing the McCoy College newsroom website, developing news and features content, and developing regular written communications and marketing materials to support McCoy College programs, achievements, and events to drive engagement with the college's students, alumni, and wider audiences at the local, state, national, and global levels.
The Communications Specialist will be responsible for identifying and connecting with new audiences; managing digital communications; managing McCoy College's online newsroom; developing content for the online newsroom and TXSTMcCoy Magazine (online); updating the McCoy College research website; assisting with the production and dissemination of McCoy College research publications; supporting the development of communications and marketing materials as needed; and tracking communications-related outcomes.
