Job Location : Huntsville,AL, USA
This position is part of the SRACES contract with NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama and is for on-site work at Marshall supporting the Satellite Needs Working Group in the Science and Technology office, on behalf of the MSFC Office of Strategic Analysis and Communications.
Work will include managing and coordinating the full spectrum of communications efforts in support of the SNWG. This may include travel to regional or national events 3-4 times per year.
Responsibilities include:
* Support writing and execution of an annual overarching strategic communications plan as well as communications plans for major project milestones and events.
* Developing event-based communications plans and executing logistical arrangements
* Integration across multiple teams in the MSFC OSAC office, S&T, the SNWG, and other NASA organizations as well as outside partners and vendors
* Learning the technical language and meaning for the missions and effort of the SNWG
* Support development and dissemination of key messaging
* Support executive communications efforts within the team
* Write blog posts, press releases, we stories, newsletter articles, etc. in both AP writing style and according to the NASA style guide.
* Represent SNWG at conferences at exhibit booths, should be comfortable with interacting with the public and speaking about scientific and technical subject matter.
This position is contingent upon funding.
Job Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in communications or appropriate area of specialization;
* And seven (7) years of directly related experienceMust be an excellent writer and speaker.
* Must have demonstrated ability to think strategically and work collaboratively to implement communications efforts in a complex and dynamic organizational structure.
* Background in scientific or technical subject matter is strongly preferred.
* Ability to navigate and develop proficiencies in a wide variety of information systems is key, including use of Microsoft Office and SharePoint, and other more scientific tools such as GitHub.
* Strongly prefer experience with scientific and/or technical content, including reading comprehension and ability to write scientific information.

Standing in work areas and walking between work areas will be required. This position requires an employee to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance; reach, push, and pull drawers and doors open and closed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
