The Community Aide II is an entry level position responsible for assisting with the assessment, education and rehabilitation of consumers participating in the program.Our residential programs embrace a Housing First, Harm Reduction philosophy to meet our participants where they are. We are widely recognized across Allegheny County for providing the highest quality of support and service to our participants and serving individuals diagnosed with behavioral health and substance use disorder. There are minimal rules that individuals must follow in order to assure a safe environment for all program participants. This allows for a long period of engagement that gives residents time to develop trust in the staff and the program.There are variable shifts for this position, with flexibility required. The location is 8701 Bricelyn Street, Pittsburgh. The dress code is casual and parking is provided at no cost. Prior mental health experience is preferred, but not required.Responsibilities:Meets regularly with Vocational Counselor/Program Coordinator to discuss assessment and progress of individual consumers.Knowledge and implementation of safety precautions.Participates with Program Coordinator to identify individual learning needs.Collaborates with Psychiatric Rehabilitation Staff to determine ongoing rehabilitation needs and development of the individualized Rehabilitation Plans.Demonstrates effective use of self to engage and role model interactions with consumers and staff.Reports pertinent clinical or non-clinical needs or problems to appropriate administrative staff.Maintains on-going communication with supervisors and appropriate staff concerning activities for groups and individuals.Meets regularly with other Psychiatric Rehabilitation Staff to develop, plan, implement and evaluate services within the program and Services and Research for Recovery in Serious Mental Illness.Works directly with consumers performing orientation, monitoring progress, assessing and teaching skills in all environments. Provides continuous feedback and ongoing support. Works 1-1 or with a group.Provides accurate documentation of goal progress and services provided. Documents pertinent information such as observations, interventions and consumer responses.Attends assigned staff meetings, training and supervisory sessions. Provide input on consumer involvement with the Peer Support Counselor.Pursues continuing education for professional growth and development.Participate in on-going staff development activities.High school diploma or GED required.Prior human services experience preferred.May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Valid Pennsylvania drivers license and access to reliable transportation preferred.CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafterBasic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)Act 34OAPSAUPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
