NYC Non-Profit Organization that provides supportive affordable housing and programs for the homes and vulnerable New Yorkers is seeking a Building Director for a prominent high-profile property located in BrooklynAbout the position:Looking for a Building Director to ensure effective property management and day-to-day operations for a 500-unit governmental residential housing program located in Brooklyn, NYThe Building Director manages the physical site's maintenance and upkeep while also ensuring the effective administration of rent activities, subsidy management, leasing, legal actions, tenant relations, and social service delivery.Must have experience with:HUD, Section 8, Tax Credit or NYCHAHeavy Tenant RelationsStrong vendor management skillsExperience with outreach within the community for building relationshipsWorking with external agenciesStrong positive attitude with direct reports and social service staffAbility to mentorESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide oversight of building staff, including direct supervision of the Assistant DirectorsHire, manage, and monitor the performance of staffManage all rent-related activities at the building including tenant rent collection, leasing, subsidy management and recertification, ensuring benchmarks are metManage all landlord-tenant legal and other activities at the building in keeping with applicable laws and regulations and policies and proceduresCollaborate with other Building Directors as needed to ensure implementation of effective strategies related to specific, as well as more macro tenant mattersManage the maintenance of a safe, clean, structurally sound and “healthy” building through effective day-to-day security and maintenance dutiesParticipate in the preventive maintenance program, on-going capital upgrades, and energy efficiency programsManage the development and coordination of tenant services at the building including activities and workshopsManage building finances including budgeting, monitoring, modifications and draw downsCollaborate closely with social service partners to ensure tenants receive the highest quality services at the building and that housing is maintainedMaintain a strong and positive partnership between management and social services staffWork effectively with external agencies including government agencies, funders and vendorsBuild strong, positive relationships with decision-makers in the local communityRepresent the organization as an expert in workshops, conferences and advocacy effortsPerform other related duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experienceMinimum 5 years' experience in property management or supportive housingMinimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory capacity. Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, manage, coach, and supervise othersExperience with social services, policy, and housing development is preferredKnowledge of local, state, and federal housing and social service regulationsKnowledge of funding sources for housing and social service programsAbility to manage multiple significant priorities, including complex and time-sensitive projectsStrong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and commitment to problem-solving and creative thinkingProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft TeamsSalary- 80k to 100k
