This is a unique opportunity for a skilled and passionate organizer to engage with New Yorkers and community-based organizations across NYC to help them launch their own Clean Energy Campaigns. Position Background Solar One has partnered with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to implement the Clean Energy Communities Program (CECP) in New York City. Through CECP, Solar One is tasked with helping New York City reduce its carbon emissions through a variety of strategies. One of these strategies is through Community Campaigns that promote clean energy adoption, including technologies such as solar and air-source heat pumps, in diverse neighborhoods across the five boroughs of NYC. Solar One seeks to hire one Community Campaigns Coordinator to conduct outreach and provide technical assistance to the general public and community based organizations (CBOs) that are interested in launching clean energy campaigns in their own community. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled community organizer to gain valuable clean energy industry experience while helping bring utility bill savings, clean energy and green jobs to NYC residents. This position offers a flexible hybrid/work-from-home option on a long-term basis. However, this position will require in-person field work, local travel, and occasional evening meetings. Job Summary The Community Campaigns Coordinator will engage with CBOs across New York City, help them design clean energy campaigns that meet the needs of their community, and help them secure funding and other resources to launch successful campaigns that spur the adoption of clean energy. Conduct outreach to CBOs across New York City to inform them about NYSERDA resources and toolkits to support clean energy campaigns. Work with the Director, Clean Energy Communities Program to develop an effective strategy to catalyze and support clean energy campaigns in all five boroughs of NYC. Coordinate with the NYC Accelerator program and the forthcoming NYSERDA Regional Clean Energy Hub on community campaign strategies. Provide informational workshops and presentations regarding clean energy technologies, campaign strategies, and NYSERDA incentives and resources to support clean energy adoption. Support multiple clean energy campaigns across NYC by connecting organizers with resources and helping out with a variety of tasks, as needed, to support the success of the campaigns. Represent Solar One and the NYSERDA CECP at campaign, climate, and community events through attendance, presentation, and support tasks. Track the progress of active and proposed clean energy campaigns in Salesforce. Participate in NYSERDA's statewide network of Clean Energy Coordinators by attending weekly CECP meetings and sharing lessons learned with peers conducting similar work across the State. Participate in organization-wide initiatives that advance Solar One's mission and strengthen the organization and its culture. Qualifications and Skills Successful candidates for this role should be able to demonstrate the following: Computer skills, including fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as social media Strong written and verbal communication skills Outgoing nature Initiative and persistence Adaptability Creative thinker Experience and Subject Matter Expertise A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least two years of experience as a community organizer or environmental/clean energy professional; Or an associate's degree and at least four years of experience as a community organizer or environmental/clean energy professional. Demonstrated knowledge of/passion for the environment, clean energy, environmental justice, and community development. Experience managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines simultaneously. Experience facilitating and designing meetings or workshops. Knowledge of New York City neighborhoods and experience conducting outreach.
