This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our community center facilities, as well as fostering a welcoming environment for all visitors and participants. The ideal candidate will have a background in maintenance, community organization, and customer service. Facility Maintenance:Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the community center building and property.Address minor repairs promptly and effectively, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building upkeep.Coordinate with Mesa County Fairgrounds Managers for larger maintenance projects and repairs.Grounds Keeping:Maintain and inspects outdoor areas, including landscaping, lawn care, and irrigation systems, Performs snow and ice removal, as necessary, of sidewalks and parking lots. Self performs lawn mowing and minor weeding, ensure sprinklers are working properly with support from Mesa County Parks. Ensure proper waste management and recycling practices are adhered to.Inspects playground areas and equipment to ensure safety, removes graffiti, repair and replace parts as needed. Cleans and rakes buffer areas.Community Engagement:Act as a liaison between the community center and town management, addressing inquiries and ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.Mentor town managers and assist in organizing community events, workshops, and programs, collaborating with staff and community members to facilitate these activities.Administrative Support:Assist in managing bookings and scheduling for facility use, ensuring efficient use of space and resources.Maintain records of maintenance activities, inventory, and equipment.Performs basic administrative computer-related tasks including working in the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems software and email. Safety and Security:Monitor the premises for safety hazards and security breaches, taking appropriate measures to ensure the safety of all users.Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures. Minimum Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven experience in minor grounds maintenance and facilities management, preferably in a community center or similar environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of interacting professionally with diverse community members.
- Basic knowledge of building systems and equipment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Certification or training in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field.
- Experience in event planning or community organizing.
- Familiarity with local community resources and stakeholders.
Supplemental Information Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
- This position requires standing, stooping, sitting, bending, twisting and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
- The employee is frequently exposed to dirt, smoke, fumes, extreme heat and cold for long durations, outside atmospheric conditions and dust from sustained periods of time.
- The employee is frequently exposed to loud noises
- Stamina and physical fitness to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Carries a Facilities and Parks pager and responds to emergency calls as required.
