The Community Employment Program Specialist (CEPS) provides direct supervision to and prepares individuals with developmental disabilities for supported/competitiveemployment by instructing tasks and work habits related to community living skills. Job responsibilities include the following:* Evaluating, observing and documenting individual progress toward meeting goals.* Employee will keep a record of time and work performed by the individuals.* This position perform task analysis, break job duties into manageable components, and train clients to perform these duties.* Perform on-site supervision, supportive counseling and reinforce on work habits for individuals supported.* This position will follow state, and vocational program goals and guidelines.Work Location: Vocational Services DepartmentWork Time: 7 AM - 3:30 PMAbout the Department of Health and Human Services / Caswell Developmental Center:The NC Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, with approximately 18,000 employees. Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all the following:* A general knowledge of the variety of work environments including manufacturing, service, or trades and their job requirements.* Ability to develop a rapport with employers, other involved human service professionals, and the population being served.* Skills documenting time, data and recording various methods of training.* Ability to interpret data and recommend future areas of training.* Ability to learn marketing needs, behavior management techniques, development of goals and task analysis, and various instructional techniques.* Ability to learn and follow OSHA and wage and hour laws.* Ability to communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and oral form.* Graduation from high school and three consecutive years of experience providing instruction to clients with developmental disabilities, preferably involving task analysis.Management Preferences:* Experience in vocational work settings with knowledge of wage and hour guidelines; knowledge of time keeping records kept on individuals employed* Successful completion of CPI and CPR* Possess a Clear Valid Drivers License* Experience driving oversized delivery vehicles, forklifts, and or operating hand carts.* Effective understanding of ICF regulations and interdisciplinary process.* Experience providing vocational instruction to the adult ID/DD population ina sheltered workshop or community setting.* Effective writing skills and ability to follow written and verbal directions.* Ability to recognize and resolve problems; effective organizational skills and exhibit flexibility in day to day routinePhysical Requirements:* Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of forcefrequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Other: Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive Motions, Visual Acuity, Inside and Outside Activities.Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience .
