We are looking for a full-time Community Engagement Specialist for our Minority Aids Initiative Grant tojoin our team at our Santa Fe offices. Location:Santa Fe, NMSchedule:Monday-Friday and Occasional WeekendsSummary: The MAI Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for advancing Santa Fe Recovery Center | Four Corners Detox Recovery Center's outreach and education efforts, with a focus on individuals at high risk for HIV, Hepatitis C, and substance use disorders (SUD). This role involves developing and executing targeted outreach strategies, engaging with clients and community members, and supporting culturally competent care. The Community Engagement Specialist will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure cohesive messaging and effective use of media, including multilingual and tribal community outreach. The Community Engagement Specialist drives awareness and access to vital resources by organizing community events and providing education on substance use, HIV prevention, and stigma reduction. They also engage with external partners and clinics to promote prevention initiatives and ongoing client support.Duties and Responsibilities of the MAI Community Engagement Specialist: (Included but not limited to)You'll report to the MAI Coordinator and:
  • Disseminate accurate and up-to-date information on SFRC/FCDRC services.
  • Provide guidance on accessing services, with a high emphasis on MAI services.
  • Work closely with the Director of Client Engagement and Experience, reviewing overarching agency-wide community engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with case management to provide community resources for clients in need of additional services, with a focus on MAI-related services (e.g., HIV, HCV treatment).
  • Facilitate warm hand-off transitions for clients between SFRC/FCDRC services.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure consistent and effective outreach efforts.
  • Develop and implement outreach strategies tailored to high-risk populations in target counties, with a focus on STI prevention and screening.
  • Engage with clients and community members at partner facilities and outreach events.
  • Provide educational support on substance use disorders (SUD) and HIV prevention, facilitate referrals, and ensure clients receive comprehensive information and resources.
  • Assist in organizing and executing community events, including logistics and preparations.
  • Support the development and execution of social media campaigns and other promotional strategies, ensuring they are culturally appropriate and effectively reach target audiences.
  • Provide culturally informed consultation to ensure outreach and engagement activities are sensitive to the needs of community members.
  • Collaborate with the team to address stigma related to substance use and HIV, and develop strategies to promote culturally competent care.
  • Develop and implement multilingual outreach campaigns using local media, including radio and social media.
  • Assist in outreach efforts within tribal communities, serving as a liaison for the Navajo Nation and Zuni Pueblo. Support culturally sensitive outreach and ensure that engagement strategies are effective and respectful.
RequirementsSkills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • 1-year experience working on the outreach team, street outreach, public relations, and public health-related awareness campaigns
  • Ability to travel regularly and attend community events
  • Commitment to driving the mission of the Santa Fe Recovery Center and MAI Grant Program.
  • Multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, Experience with outreach and marketing
  • Must have a willingness to serve as part of an outreach and education team, with the ability to both offer and receive feedback appropriately
  • Experience with working with at-risk populations
  • Valid NM driver's license and clean driving record (required)
