We use a Community Schools strategy to work towards closing the achievement gap, reducing chronic absenteeism, and increasing family connectedness to schools and the greater Sun Prairie community. Our strategy focuses onBuilding relationships and strong partnerships with school staff, families, youth and community partnerscreating fun environments for youth where they feel listened to and trustedremoving barriers for families to engage in programmingintegrating equity-based decision making into the fabric of the workregularly identifying priorities of the community to guide decision makingThe Community Schools Site Coordinator commits to advancing racial and economic equity and inclusion, collaborating, and sharing leadership to facilitate this effort under the supervision of the Community Schools Director, in partnership with the Building Principal, and under the guidance of the Site Leadership Team.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.Lead the implementation of the Community Schools strategy at the assigned school, with support from the Community Schools Manager, Building Principal, and Site Leadership TeamFacilitate the development of the school's asset map and needs assessment. Continuously engage community in ongoing assessment and activities as a successor to the initial community asset map and needs assessment process.Facilitate monthly Site Leadership team meetings (administration, school staff, parents, students, community residents, community partner organizations). Guide Site Leadership Team to assure successful alignment and implementation of resources to the Community School Site Plan.Work closely with the Site Leadership Team to create a plan that implements high quality programs and services which are coordinated and well-aligned to articulated goals for the community school.Oversees the implementation of programs and services by facilitating and monitoring agreements with program and service partners.Maintains participation, attendance records, and other records as appropriate providing this information to appropriate entities.Works cooperatively with the school principal to incorporate and adapt the Community Schools strategy to meet the school community needs and the school district's academic and performance goals as identified in the strategic planCoordinate and manage community partnerships and resources in accordance with the Community School Site Plan including the facilitation of regular meetings and ongoing communication among partners and school staff to ensure effective integration.Facilitate communication and relationship-building with community partners, key stakeholders, children, families, and volunteers.Participate in appropriate school and community meetings, community partner organization meetings, and parent organization meetings to ensure strategic communication and alignmentServe as key contact person for school staff seeking support or enrichment for students and families.Develop and maintain calendar of programming during and beyond the school day for children, families, and the community including management of all uses by Community School programs and partners of the building after school hours.Provide training and technical assistance activities to community partners, key stakeholders, school staff, and volunteers as needed.Monitor and analyze outcomes related to school goals and benchmarks of community school determined in Community School Site Plan such as: attendance, student discipline referrals, academic achievement, parental involvement, and program effectiveness.Support initiative and individual site grant-seeking and other fund development activities including; planning and development of application processes, grant-writing, and training and/or technical assistance in the outcome measurement reporting.Recruits, trains, and manages any staff and volunteers as applicable and in accordance with district policies and practices.Builds positive relationships with and among staff, volunteers, participants, families and school administration and creates a supportive community environment.Attends meetings and professional development sessions as required by the Community Schools Initiative and the School District.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree preferred or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.Minimum two years of relevant experience described in the job description.Three years experience working directly with children and families with a variety of abilities and needs.Must possess reliable transportation for travel when required.Must possess and maintain within the indicated time frame:CPR/AED and First Aid training within 30 days of start date.Child Abuse Prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens training within 60 days of start date.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESThe ability to effectively interact with, lead and motivate children, families and volunteers who have a variety of abilities and needs.Must demonstrate initiative, strong leadership skills, and have ability and experience providing guidance to staff with a variety of educational and experiential backgrounds.Knowledge of general child growth and development, learning theories, and developmentally appropriate activities for childrenPreferred experience with all or some: facilitation, data analysis, grant writing, and/or using outcomes in program development, operation or evaluation is highly desired.Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy are required.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate decimals and percentages.The ability to organize, prioritize and manage tasks without direct supervision.Work may be completed in an office setting and may include the frequent use of a computer and other office machinery. Work also involves alternative environments in accordance with programming such as hallways, parks, gymnasiums or community rooms at apartment buildings, etc...Ability to use technology to accomplish job responsibilities that may include basic knowledge of email, word processing, internet search engines, and spreadsheet software.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
