Candidates will be notified via email if selected to interview.JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION SCOPEUnder general supervision, this position is responsible for the garbage route at City facilities and park locations. This position involves maintenance work regarding the care and maintenance of the City's parks, playgrounds, athletic fields and courts, and other City properties and facilities which includes operating equipment. Utilizing a thorough working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in the maintenance trades, this positions performs a variety of skilled tasks that are generally specialized in nature. General orders for assignments are designated by supervisor and transmitted verbally, electronically or in writing, but this position is expected to work with a high degree of autonomy in most areas of responsibility. A Community Service Worker I may be assigned to a certain division, but can be moved to assist another division to complete a task/project as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSCollects garbage from 96-gallon carts and transfers to hauler at City facilities (City Hall, Hobbs, CMF, etc.) and City parks. Maintains and repairs exterior and interior of shelters and miscellaneous structures, including minor electrical work, plumbing, and concrete work. Conducts repairs to masonry, plumbing, irrigation, electrical control wiring, etc.Inspects facilities, machinery, and equipment noting conditions indicating the need for repair and maintenance. Performs preventive maintenance duties in all areas of responsibility.Cleans and disinfects park shelters, pavilions, athletic facilities, restrooms, locker rooms, and other park buildings/facilities. Assists with special events and recreation programs clean-up/take down. Performs carpentry work in the maintenance of shelter buildings, parks, and playground facilities. Installs paneling, siding, sheetrock, doors, windows, and roofing.Maintains, repairs, and moves bleachers and picnic tables. Installs fences.Adjusts, repairs, and replaces site amenities and facility components. Paints walls and doors.Floods outdoor ice rinks, grooms ski trails, and plows/shovels city trails, sidewalks, intersections, bridges, and stairs. Maintaining athletic fields. Reads and sets simple grading plans.Maintains turf (level 1) and broad knowledge of turf equipment operation.Must be able to interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, and conceptual plans.Assists in development and maintenance of leisure time areas, keeps records and submits written reports and develops drawings as required, in both written and electronic format.Must be physically and mentally able to perform strenuous, stressful, and heavy manual duties during adverse weather conditions for up to 16 hours per day, 7 days per week.Must be able to work with community members including park patrons and people experiencing homelessness. The work is primarily performed outdoors, where there will be exposure to heat, cold, inclement weather, slippery conditions, noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, and chemicals. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves. Lift on occasion 20 to 65 lbs., frequently 10 to 35 lbs., &/or constantly 15 lbs. maximum. The position is classified as Heavy according to the City's job demand physical analysis. Contributions cannot exceed the annual maximum limit allowed by the IRS.Roth PlansAvailable participation in the Roth 457 and Roth IRA retirement accounts offered by the City. Contributions cannot exceed the annual maximum limit allowed by the IRS.Supplemental Worker's Compensation PayUpon the determination of eligibility, the City shall pay a regular full-time employee who is injured on the job the difference between 87.5% of their regular salary and their worker's compensation payments, as long as the employee is on injury leave, but not to exceed 90 days for the same injury. When an employee has used the full 90 days of injury leave and is still unable to return to work, the employee may petition the City Council for an extension.
