The current opening oversees Youth and Adult Sports, Field Allocations, Batting Cages, Boxing program, Teen Center, Splash Pad, and Summer Lunch, and must be available to work weekends and holidays. Duties/ResponsibilitiesExamples of Typical Job Functions:
- Plan, organize, assign, supervise, and review staff work in Parks and Facilities, Recreation, or Social Services Divisions; select, train, and promote staff; evaluate performance; recommend disciplinary actions.
- Develop and implement goals, policies, and procedures; recommend improvements and implement changes for better service delivery.
- Coordinate services and operations with other divisions and agencies.
- Participate in budget preparation; identify resource needs; oversee compliance with budget.
- Provide staff assistance to management; prepare and present reports; maintain documentation.
- Answer public inquiries; investigate complaints; recommend corrective actions.
- Build relationships with community groups; develop and promote services and programs.
- Analyze trends in recreation and social services programming; evaluate program effectiveness; make recommendations.
- Manage marketing efforts; prepare promotional materials.
- Represent the City in meetings with organizations, community groups, and the public.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation administration, public administration, human services, sociology, or a related field.
- Experience: Four (4) years of community services programming administration experience.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid California Driver's License.
Knowledge of:
- Employee supervision principles, leadership, and team interaction.
- Budget administration and record-keeping principles.
- Community services programming methods and techniques.
- First aid and safety practices for recreational programs.
- Case management methods.
- Relevant federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
- English language structure, spelling, composition, and grammar.
