This role will oversee USPI Mid-West and Mid-Atlantic, includes the following key states (over 50 locations): Tennessee Indiana Missouri Ohio Maryland (partial) Territoy assignment subject to change based on business needs POSITION SUMMARY: The USPI Compliance Officer reports directly to the USPI Compliance Officer, who reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer of USPI. FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: The USPI Compliance Officer is responsible for managing the implementation of Tenet's Ethics and Compliance program in his or her assigned region. The USPI Compliance Officer's general duties and responsibilities encompass implementing Tenet's systems, processes and policies designed to ensure compliance with Federal healthcare program requirements. The USPI Compliance Officer is also responsible for overseeing the implementation of Quality, Compliance and Ethics Charter in his or her facility(ies) as assigned under the Regional Compliance Officers. Among the specific responsibilities and activities of the USPI Compliance Officer are the following: Advise facility leadership on issues concerning compliance, ethics and privacy/security matters including recommending controls designed to ensure compliance within the assigned market. Work collaboratively with Administrators and facility leadership in compliance, ethics and privacy/security program development and implementation within assigned region. Establish effective working relationships and build credibility within the region and facilities to support a culture of ethics and compliance. Interface directly with Administrators, and facility leadership, and employees to serve as a sounding board for their concerns about ethics and compliance matters. Assists in the implementation of USPI's education and training program that focuses on the requirements of the Quality, Compliance and Ethics Charter, the USPI's ethics and compliance program, and the privacy and security program to ensure that all employees, contractors, and physicians within the region are knowledgeable of Federal healthcare program requirements and the requirements of the Ethics and Compliance program as required to perform their respective roles. Coordinate with USPI counsel to facilitate communication between the Compliance and Ethics Department and Law Department on legal and compliance matters. Assists in auditing, monitoring and oversight processes related to identified risks. Oversee the implementation of corrective actions and monitoring in response to identified issues and audits. Implement approved monitoring systems and processes for compliance and ethics issues in the region. Implement approved procedures that encourage facility employees, leadership, contractors, and physicians to report suspected fraud or other improprieties without the fear of retaliation. Work collaboratively with corporate personnel to resolve all compliance issues identified. Implement USPI's compliance work plan and initiatives and systems to prevent compliance and privacy/security issues from arising within the facility. Act as a consultative resource on compliance and ethics matters. CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Required Background Strong preference for at least three to five years of progressive experience in the hospital compliance. The successful candidate will be recognized for demonstrated knowledge in compliance process improvement and the requirements of Federal healthcare programs requirements. Other success factors include past clinical, legal, auditing or other compliance experience. An energetic and results-oriented leader who inspires confidence and possesses high personal and professional integrity. Clear, concise and persuasive writing and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills and an orientation to deadlines and detail. Ability to respond well under pressure. Skills in use of information systems, databases, Excel and Microsoft Word. Strong preference for candidates with at least three years experience in healthcare compliance matters, preferably for a large, multi-faceted healthcare company. Compensation and Benefit Information Compensation Pay: $98k-$145k annually. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience. Position may be eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan bonus of 10% depending on role level. Management level positions may be eligible for sign-on and relocation bonuses.
